Q: What typically fits inside this Chanel Classic Medium Double Flap Bag?
A: With measurements of approximately 24 x 17 x 7 cm, it suits daily essentials such as a phone, compact wallet or card holder, keys, lipstick, and a few small extras. Because it is a double flap style, the interior feels a little more compact than the outer measurements suggest, so bulky items may be a tight fit.

Q: Is the Medium size good for day-to-evening use?
A: Yes. The Medium Classic Flap is widely considered one of Chanel's most versatile sizes, large enough for essentials yet polished enough for evenings out. This piece works especially well if you prefer a structured vintage bag rather than a large carryall.

Q: Can this bag be worn crossbody?
A: It is best suited to shoulder wear. The strap drop is approximately 23 cm doubled and 43 cm single, so most people will wear it on the shoulder; on some petite frames it may sit as a short, high crossbody, but it is not usually considered a full crossbody fit.

Q: What does Double Flap mean?
A: A Double Flap design has the main outer flap with the CC turn-lock plus a second interior flap. This gives the bag extra structure and security, but it also slightly reduces usable interior space compared with a single-flap style.

Q: What does the serial number tell me about this bag?
A: The serial number is listed as a 1-series code, which dates the bag to approximately 1989 to 1991. That places it in the vintage Chanel era, which is often appreciated for its classic proportions and character.

Q: What condition is this bag in?
A: It is listed in good vintage condition. The exterior shows creasing, scratches, and some discolouration; the interior has scratches; and the hardware remains shiny with light surface scratches. The photos and condition notes are the best guide to the exact level of wear.

Q: What product information are included with this bag?
A: The listing notes the serial number as included product information. No authenticity card, box, or dust bag is listed, so those should not be assumed to be included unless confirmed separately.

Q: How should I care for vintage Chanel leather?
A: Store it upright with light stuffing to help maintain its shape, keep it away from prolonged sunlight and moisture, and wipe gently with a soft dry cloth. Avoid overfilling, harsh cleaners, and repeated rubbing against delicate fabrics, as vintage leather can mark more easily over time.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is vetted by in-house experts using detailed checks of materials, construction, hardware, stamps, and serial details. We stand behind the authenticity of the pieces we sell and can provide additional product information on request.
