ChanelQuilted Cambon Tote Bag

Q: What size is this tote and what typically fits inside?
A: This bag measures approximately 40 x 25 x 15 cm, so it offers generous everyday capacity. It should comfortably hold essentials such as a long wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses, a cosmetics pouch, a water bottle and a small notebook or tablet. Please use the Measurements on this page as the best guide for your personal packing needs.

Q: Can this bag be carried on the shoulder?
A: Yes. With dual handles and an approximate 21 cm strap drop, this tote is designed to sit comfortably on the shoulder for most users. Fit can vary slightly depending on your frame and what you are wearing.

Q: Is the Chanel Cambon Tote a good everyday bag?
A: Yes, it is a strong everyday option if you like roomy vintage totes. The Cambon Tote is known for its practical shape, comfortable shoulder carry and organised interior, and this piece also features a top zip closure for added security.

Q: Will it fit a laptop or work essentials?
A: It can accommodate many tablets, documents and daily work essentials, and a very slim small laptop may fit depending on its exact dimensions. That said, it is not best treated as a heavy-duty laptop bag, as overloading a structured vintage leather tote can affect its shape over time.

Q: Is the Chanel Cambon line discontinued?
A: Yes. The Cambon line is a discontinued Chanel collection, which is one reason it remains popular on the pre-owned market. Its vintage status and recognisable design make it especially appealing to collectors and buyers looking for earlier Chanel styles.

Q: How should I care for the vintage quilted leather?
A: Wipe it gently with a soft cloth and avoid harsh cleaning products. Keep it away from prolonged sunlight, heat and moisture, and if it gets wet, dry it carefully with a soft absorbent cloth. When not in use, store it upright and lightly stuffed to help maintain its shape, and avoid overfilling it during wear.

Q: How can I authenticate a vintage Chanel bag like this one?
A: Vintage Chanel bags should be authenticated using a combination of details, including the serial sticker, leather quality, stitching, hardware, lining and overall construction. A serial number is an important clue, but it should never be treated as proof on its own. At A Retro Tale, every item is carefully authenticated before sale.

Q: What does the serial number tell me?
A: The serial number helps identify the bag as part of Chanel’s sticker-era production and can help place it within a broader production period. For this item, the listed serial number is 12407448. As with all vintage Chanel bags, the serial number is one useful reference point, but it is not a standalone authenticity guarantee.

Q: What product information is included with this bag?
A: The listing notes the serial number as included product information. If an authenticity card, box, dust bag or any other item is not listed in the product information for this page, it is not included with the purchase.

Q: What is the condition of this specific bag?
A: This bag is listed in very good vintage condition. The exterior shows light scuffing on the corners and some wear on the straps, the interior has light traces of use with slight discolouration and wear along the seam of the inner pocket, and the hardware remains shiny with light scratches.
