Saint LaurentYSL Flap Handbag

Q: What typically fits inside this Saint Laurent YSL Flap Handbag?
A: With approximate measurements of 23 x 20 x 7 cm, this bag is best suited to daily essentials such as a phone, small wallet or cardholder, keys, sunglasses and a few cosmetics. It is a compact structured handbag rather than a large day bag, so bulkier items are unlikely to fit comfortably.

Q: Can this bag be worn on the shoulder?
A: This piece is designed primarily as a top-handle handbag. It has a single handle with an approximate drop of 12 cm, and no shoulder strap is listed in the product information, so it is best carried by hand or in the crook of the arm.

Q: What is the condition of this vintage bag?
A: The bag is listed in very good vintage condition. There is visible scuffing on the corners, light traces of use inside, and the hardware remains shiny with light surface scratches. These details are reflected in the product information and photos.

Q: Does this item include any extras such as a strap, dust bag or authenticity card?
A: No extra items are included with this piece. If something is not mentioned in the product information, it should be assumed not to be included.

Q: Is the external back pocket practical?
A: Yes, the external back pocket is useful for slim essentials you may want to reach quickly, such as receipts, notes or a card holder. To help preserve the shape of the flap, it is best not to overfill it.

Q: How should I care for the black grained leather and gold-tone hardware?
A: Grained leather is generally a practical finish for everyday wear, but it should still be handled with care. Wipe the bag gently with a soft dry cloth, avoid prolonged exposure to rain, heat and direct sunlight, and store it lightly stuffed in a breathable dust bag or cotton bag when not in use. For the hardware, avoid rubbing against hard surfaces to minimise scratches.

Q: Is corner wear common on vintage Saint Laurent flap bags?
A: Light corner wear is one of the more common signs of use on structured Saint Laurent flap styles, especially on pre-owned pieces. On this bag, the corner scuffing is already noted in the product information, while the overall condition remains very good.

Q: How can I check the serial or date code on a Saint Laurent bag?
A: On Saint Laurent bags, the serial or date code is commonly found on an interior leather tag or stamped inside the lining, depending on the era and style. No serial number is listed in the product information for this piece, so if you would like further confirmation, it is best to request that detail before purchase.

Q: How do I know this bag is authentic?
A: A Retro Tale specialises in authenticated luxury vintage pieces. When assessing Saint Laurent bags, typical checkpoints include leather quality, logo and stamp accuracy, stitching consistency, hardware finish and interior markings where present. This item is sold as an authentic pre-owned Saint Laurent bag.

Q: Can Saint Laurent repair older handbags?
A: Saint Laurent offers aftersales support for repairs and alterations through its client service. For a vintage piece, repair availability can vary depending on the age, materials and the type of work required, so it is sensible to enquire directly if future repair options are important to you.
