Louis VuittonMonogram Vernis Lexington Bag

Q: What size is this Louis Vuitton Monogram Vernis Lexington Bag?
A: This bag measures approximately 20 cm wide, 12 cm high, and 4 cm deep, with a strap drop of approximately 17 cm. It is a compact evening or day-to-night bag designed for essentials rather than bulkier items.

Q: What typically fits inside the Lexington Bag?
A: The Lexington is best suited to small daily essentials such as a phone, card holder, keys, lipstick, and other slim items. Because of its narrow profile, it will not comfortably fit larger purses, water bottles, or bulkier accessories. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for the most accurate sense of capacity.

Q: Is the Lexington a shoulder bag or more of a pouch?
A: The Lexington is a slim, compact shoulder bag with a short strap. It is usually carried tucked under the arm or on the shoulder, giving it the look of a classic pochette-style bag.

Q: What is Monogram Vernis, and is it durable?
A: Monogram Vernis is Louis Vuitton’s glossy embossed patent leather, recognisable for its shiny finish and raised Monogram pattern. It is stylish and eye-catching, but like many patent finishes it can show colour transfer, surface marks, and age-related wear more easily than coated canvas, so gentle handling is recommended.

Q: How should I care for a Vernis bag like this one?
A: Vernis leather should be kept away from direct sunlight, humidity, heat, rough surfaces, and dark materials that may transfer colour. It is best cleaned gently with a soft, dry cloth and stored in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid overfilling the bag, as pressure can affect the shape and finish over time.

Q: Does Vernis leather tend to discolour or develop wear over time?
A: Yes, this is one of the most common questions about Vernis pieces. With age and use, Vernis can develop marks, fading, colour transfer, or changes in tone, especially on lighter shades or pieces stored in warm conditions. For this specific bag, the condition is listed as good, with signs of wear and fraying on the corners, discolouration and peeling on the inside, and hardware that remains shiny with light scratches.

Q: What does the date code VI 1011 mean?
A: The date code VI 1011 indicates production in France in November 2001. On Louis Vuitton bags from this period, the letters identify the production location and the numbers indicate the month and year of manufacture. As always, a date code supports identification but should be considered alongside the overall details of the bag.

Q: Is this bag made in France?
A: Yes. The country of origin label for this item is France, which is also consistent with the VI factory code shown in the date code.

Q: What product information is included with this bag?
A: Everything included with the item is noted in the product information. For this specific bag, it is listed as having no accessories, so no additional product information is included beyond the bag itself.

Q: How do you authenticate Louis Vuitton bags at A Retro Tale?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is carefully reviewed by specialists using a multi-point authentication process. This includes assessing details such as materials, construction, hardware, stamps, and date codes, so you can shop pre-owned luxury with confidence.
