Q: Is this Chanel Boy Necklace authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What materials is it made from? Is it real gold?
A: Chanel fashion jewellery is typically crafted from plated base metal. This necklace features gold‑tone hardware with crystal embellishments on the ‘Boy’ and CC logo charms and a curb chain with a lobster clasp. It is not solid gold unless explicitly stated. Please review the close‑up photos and contact us if you’d like us to confirm any aspect of the composition for this piece.

Q: What are the measurements and how will it sit when worn?
A: The necklace length is approximately 86 cm. The featured charm area is listed at about 4.5 cm (height) x 1.5 cm (width) x 0.3 cm (depth). At 86 cm, it generally sits mid‑ to lower‑chest on most wearers. If you’d like the exact drop length or chain width, message us and we’ll measure it for you.

Q: How does it fasten and is the clasp secure?
A: It uses a lobster clasp closure, a secure and user‑friendly mechanism. To ensure safety, check that the clasp is fully closed and periodically inspect the jump rings and connections, especially around the pendant and clasp areas.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect on a Chanel necklace?
A: Most Chanel costume necklaces feature an oval or round plaque stamped CHANEL, often with a country of origin (France/Italy) and, depending on era, a season or date code. Placement and format vary by collection. Our listing photos show any stamps present on this piece.

Q: Is it suitable for sensitive skin? Is it nickel‑free?
A: Fashion jewellery alloys and platings may contain nickel. If you have sensitivities, consider wearing the necklace over clothing, using a clear barrier product on contact points, and discontinuing wear if irritation occurs. We’re happy to advise further if needed.

Q: How should I care for the gold‑tone plating and crystals?
A: Keep the necklace dry and away from perfume, hairspray, lotions, hand sanitiser and cleaning chemicals. After wear, gently wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Do not soak, use ultrasonic cleaners or chemical dips. Store individually in a pouch/box to avoid scratches and protect the crystal settings.

Q: Can the length be adjusted or an extender be added?
A: While the original chain is not adjustable, a jeweller can usually add a short extender at the clasp for extra length. Any modification may affect originality and resale value; we don’t offer in‑house alterations but can recommend reputable specialists.

Q: Can it be repaired, replated or have crystals serviced?
A: Competent workshops can often replace or tighten clasps, secure settings, and perform gentle replating of fashion jewellery. Boutique services may be offered at the brand’s discretion for certain pieces. Please note that restoration can affect originality; contact us for guidance and reputable service providers.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return it?
A: This necklace is in Very Good Condition with light signs of careful wear possible unless noted otherwise. This listing includes no accessories unless specifically shown or stated. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
