Q: Is this Chanel Camellia Corsages Brooch authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What is it made from? Is the hardware real gold?
A: This vintage brooch is crafted as a white fabric camellia with gold‑tone metal hardware and a CHANEL logo plaque. It is considered costume jewellery (fashion jewellery) and is not solid gold unless explicitly stated.

Q: How big is it and how will it look when worn?
A: Approximate measurements are 6 cm (height) × 6 cm (width) × 2 cm (depth). The bloom has a soft, dimensional profile that reads as a statement accent on lapels, coats and structured knits without feeling overly heavy. If you’d like the exact gram weight or a model shot for scale, just ask and we’ll provide it.

Q: How does it fasten and how can I keep it secure?
A: It features a classic pin fastening at the back. For added security, many wearers use a locking pin back or a small rubber stopper on the pin, and place a felt backing disc on the inside of the garment to stabilise the fabric and reduce stress on fibres.

Q: Can I wear it on coats, knitwear, scarves or on a bag?
A: Yes. Brooches are ideal on structured fabrics like wool, tweed, denim and canvas. On delicate fabrics (silk, fine knits), test in an inconspicuous spot and use a felt backing or seam area for support. If styling on a handbag, pin through a reinforced area (e.g., strap or thick leather/canvas) to avoid marks.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect on a Chanel camellia brooch?
A: Many Chanel brooches carry a signature plaque or engraving with CHANEL, the country of origin and sometimes a season code. On fabric camellias, the marking may appear on the pin hardware or a small plaque; placement varies by era. Our close‑up photos show any stamps present on this piece, noted as made in France.

Q: Is it suitable for sensitive skin? Is it nickel‑free?
A: Fashion jewellery can include base‑metal alloys that may contain nickel. If you have sensitivities, we recommend pinning the brooch so the metal does not sit directly against skin (e.g., on thicker fabric or with a felt backing). Discontinue use if irritation occurs and contact us for guidance.

Q: How should I care for the fabric petals and gold‑tone finish?
A: Keep the brooch dry and away from perfume, hairspray, lotions and hand sanitiser. After wear, gently dust the petals with a soft brush or microfibre cloth and spot‑clean only—do not soak or machine‑wash. Store it separately in a box or pouch, cushioned with tissue, to prevent crushing or fraying of the petals and to minimise friction on the metal finish.

Q: Can I wear it in the rain, shower or at the gym?
A: We recommend keeping costume jewellery dry. Moisture and humidity can dull plating, weaken adhesives and distort fabric petals. Remove the brooch before rain exposure, showering, swimming or exercise, and allow garments to dry fully before re‑pinning.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return it?
A: This piece is graded Good Condition with light signs of wear consistent with age and use unless otherwise noted. Accessories are not included unless specified—this listing comes with no accessories. Returns are accepted under our standard policy; please review our Returns information and return the item in the same condition received.
