Q: What are the materials of this brooch?
A: It features gold- and silver-tone metal with rhinestone embellishments and a central faux pearl bearing the interlocking CC motif. As a piece of Chanel costume jewellery, it is not solid gold and the stones are crystals rather than precious gemstones.

Q: How big is the brooch and where does it sit best?
A: The brooch measures approximately 2 cm in height, 9 cm in width and 1 cm in depth. Its elongated arrow silhouette looks great on lapels, the breast of a blazer, coat collars, knitwear, berets, and on the strap of a handbag.

Q: Is the pin-back secure, and will it damage fabrics?
A: It uses a traditional pin-back closure that secures through fabric. To minimise fabric stress and keep the brooch level, attach it to thicker, tightly woven materials (e.g., wool, denim, structured lapels). For delicate fabrics, consider a magnetic brooch converter or add a small rubber/metal pin lock for extra security (not included).

Q: How should I care for rhinestones and plated metal on vintage Chanel jewellery?
A: Keep the piece dry and away from lotions, perfume and hairspray; moisture can weaken settings and dull stones. After wear, gently wipe with a soft, lint-free cloth and store in its box or a padded compartment. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, silver dips and abrasive polishes; these can damage plating, faux pearls and rhinestone foil backs.

Q: Are the stones original, and are they diamonds?
A: Chanel brooches of this style are set with glass rhinestones for sparkle; they are not diamonds. The central pearl is a faux (imitation) pearl as described. We examine stone settings as part of our authentication and quality checks.

Q: How do you authenticate this vintage Chanel brooch?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is vetted by our in-house experts using multi-point checks of construction, plating, stone setting, logos and signature stamps, as well as period-correct design details. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can share additional photos or details on request.

Q: Can I wear it on bags and hats as well as clothing?
A: Yes. It is versatile—pin it to a tote or shoulder strap, a hat band, a scarf, or even at the waist of a dress. For soft leathers or fine knits, use a stabilising backing or a magnet accessory to avoid stretching or pin marks.

Q: Will the plating tarnish over time?
A: Normal surface wear is expected with vintage, but you can slow it by avoiding moisture and chemicals, removing the brooch before rain, and storing it separately to prevent metal-on-metal friction. If light dullness occurs, buff gently with a dry microfibre cloth—do not use metal polish.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: This brooch comes with a box, as listed under Accessories. Everything included is detailed on this page; if you have questions about extras, please contact us.

Q: Is it suitable for men as well as women?
A: Absolutely. Brooches are genderless accessories—this bold arrow design works on tailoring, overcoats and knitwear regardless of who wears it.
