Q: Is this Chanel Camellia Rhinestone Brooch authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What is it made from? Is it solid silver?
A: Chanel fashion jewellery brooches are typically crafted from plated base metal with resin and strass (rhinestones). This piece features black resin with a grey pattern, gunmetal‑tone hardware, crystal embellishments and a pin fastening. It is not solid sterling silver unless explicitly stated. If you’d like us to confirm any composition details, just ask and we’ll check the plaque and finishes for you.

Q: How big is it and how will it feel on clothing?
A: Approximate measurements are 4 cm (height) x 4.7 cm (width) x 0.7 cm (depth). Resin construction generally keeps the weight comfortable for most garments. If you’d like the exact gram weight or a photo on model for scale, message us and we’ll provide it.

Q: How does it fasten and how can I keep it secure?
A: It has a traditional pin fastening at the back. For extra security and to protect fabric, you can add a small brooch stopper/locking clutch and use a felt or plastic backing disc on the inside of the garment. Pin through seams, lapels or double‑layered areas to minimise strain and droop.

Q: Can I wear it on coats, knitwear, scarves or handbags?
A: Yes—brooches are ideal on structured fabrics like wool coats, blazers, denim and canvas. On delicate fabrics (silk, fine knits), test in an inconspicuous spot and stabilise with a backing disc. If pinning to a handbag, use a reinforced area (e.g., strap or interior tab) to avoid marking soft leather.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect on a Chanel brooch?
A: Vintage Chanel costume jewellery commonly features an oval or round plaque stamped CHANEL, often with the interlocking CC, “Made in France/Italy,” and season/date codes (e.g., a two‑digit year and a letter such as P for Printemps/Spring or A for Automne/Autumn). Placement varies by era; some authentic pieces may have lost plaques over time. Our close‑up photos show any stamps present—this item is noted as France.

Q: Is it nickel‑free and suitable for sensitive skin?
A: Fashion jewellery alloys can contain nickel. If you have sensitivities, wear the brooch over thicker fabric so the metal doesn’t touch skin directly, or apply a clear barrier to contact points. Discontinue use if irritation occurs and contact us for guidance.

Q: How should I care for the resin, gunmetal finish and rhinestones?
A: Keep it dry and away from perfume, lotions, hairspray and hand sanitiser. After wear, gently wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Do not soak, use ultrasonic cleaners or chemical dips. Store it separately in a pouch/box, ideally with an anti‑moisture sachet, to reduce plating oxidation and preserve rhinestone adhesive.

Q: What if a stone comes loose or the pin needs repair?
A: A competent jeweller can tighten/replace the pin and reset or replace rhinestones. CHANEL boutiques primarily service fine jewellery; repair options for vintage fashion jewellery vary by boutique and availability. We can recommend reputable independent specialists. Note that modifications may affect originality and resale value.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return it?
A: This brooch is in Very Good Condition with light signs of careful wear possible unless noted otherwise. Only accessories specifically shown or listed are included—this item comes with no accessories. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
