Q: What is this brooch made from?
A: It is crafted from gold‑tone metal with crystal embellishment. As fashion jewellery, it is not solid gold; Dior reserves precious metals for its fine jewellery lines.

Q: What do the charms (clover, bee, star and number 8) symbolise?
A: These are historic Dior house codes and good‑luck emblems associated with Monsieur Dior—most notably the star, the bee and the four‑leaf clover, while the number 8 references early Dior silhouettes and the founder’s superstitions.

Q: How big is it and where does it sit best?
A: Approx. 4 × 3 × 0.5 cm (H × W × D). The size works beautifully on blazer lapels, coat collars, structured dresses, chunky knits and denim. For very delicate fabrics, consider alternative placement (like on a scarf or bag) to avoid pulls.

Q: Will the pin damage my clothes?
A: Use sturdier weaves such as wool, tweed, denim or leather. On fine fabrics, pin through a seam or facing, or place a small felt patch behind the fabric to distribute pressure. Always remove the brooch before washing or dry‑cleaning garments.

Q: How secure is the clasp?
A: It features a traditional pin‑and‑catch fastening. Ensure the catch clicks closed; for extra security on slippery or thick fabrics, you can add a locking pin back or discreetly anchor with a small safety pin behind the fabric.

Q: Can I wear it on a bag, hat or scarf?
A: Yes. Brooches are currently styled on handbags, hats, scarves and even clustered on lapels. On scarves, use it as a chic clasp and choose thicker silk or wool to support the pin securely.

Q: How should I clean and store it?
A: Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after wear. Avoid soaking, hot water, ultrasonic cleaners, harsh chemicals and direct contact with perfume or hairspray, which can dull crystal settings and plating. Store individually in a soft pouch to prevent scratches and bent pins.

Q: Is this authentic?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is thoroughly authenticated by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, stamps, hardware, construction and period details. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can share additional photos or details on request.

Q: What accessories are included?
A: This piece is sold without accessories. Everything included is always listed in the Accessories section on this page; if an item such as a box or dust pouch isn’t listed, it is not included.
