Q: Are these Christian Dior Petit CD Star Rhinestone Earrings authentic?
A: Yes. Every piece at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What are they made of? Are the stones real diamonds and is the metal solid gold?
A: Dior fashion jewellery typically uses gold‑tone plated base metal (often brass) with crystal/rhinestone embellishments. The stones are not diamonds and the metal is not solid gold unless explicitly stated. Please review the photos and contact us if you’d like us to confirm the specific composition of this pair.

Q: Are they for pierced ears or clip‑on, and how do they fasten?
A: Petit CD earrings are most commonly designed for pierced ears with a post and butterfly back. Please check the close‑up images on this page or message us and we’ll confirm the exact fastening on this pair.

Q: What size and weight are they? Will they feel heavy?
A: Refer to the Measurements section and photos for dimensions. If you need precise width, height and approximate gram weight, contact us and we’ll measure them for you. Petit CD studs generally have a comfortable, everyday feel, though sensitivity to weight varies by wearer.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect on Dior earrings?
A: Contemporary Dior costume earrings typically feature a “DIOR” signature and may include “Made in Italy/France” and/or a collection mark. Placement varies by design (on the back of the stud, post or fitting). Our listing photos show any stamps present on this pair.

Q: How should I care for the rhinestones and plated finish?
A: Keep them dry and away from perfume, hairspray, lotions and hand sanitiser. After wear, gently wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth; use a dry cotton bud to remove dust around stone settings. Do not soak, use ultrasonic cleaners or chemical dips. Store individually in a pouch or box, out of direct sunlight and humidity, to help preserve colour and sparkle.

Q: Are they nickel‑free and suitable for sensitive ears?
A: Fashion jewellery alloys can contain nickel. If you have sensitivities, consider hypoallergenic barrier discs or applying a clear barrier product on contact points, and wear for shorter periods. Discontinue use if irritation occurs and contact us for guidance.

Q: Will the plating or stones show wear over time?
A: Plated finishes can show light surface wear or minor colour fade at high‑contact points. Rhinestones can dull if exposed to moisture or cosmetics. Proper care—keeping them dry, wiping after wear and storing carefully—helps prolong their appearance. Any notable patina or wear is shown in the listing photos and condition notes.

Q: Can Dior or a jeweller repair them if a stone loosens, a back is lost, or the finish wears?
A: Service for costume jewellery is at Dior’s discretion and varies by boutique. Reputable jewellers can often reset or replace rhinestones, adjust post/back fittings and, in some cases, perform gentle replating. We don’t modify items in‑house but can recommend specialists on request; note that alterations may affect originality and resale value.

Q: What is included and can I return earrings?
A: Only accessories specifically shown or listed (e.g., Dior box/pouch) are included; Dior typically does not issue separate authenticity cards for costume jewellery. Earrings are eligible for return under our standard policy provided they are unworn, any hygiene seals (if applied) remain intact, and they are returned in the same condition received. Please see our Returns page for full details.
