Q: Are these Hermès Pegasus Clip-on Earrings authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What are they made from? Are they solid gold?
A: These are vintage Hermès fashion jewellery earrings crafted from gold‑plated metal with a Pegasus motif. They are not solid gold. Hermès produces gold‑plated fashion earrings alongside fine‑metal pieces; please review the close‑up photos and contact us if you’d like us to confirm any specific composition details for this pair.

Q: What are the measurements and how will they look when worn?
A: They measure approximately 3 cm (height) x 3 cm (width) x 0.7 cm (depth). The round silhouette offers a noticeable yet elegant presence on the ear. If you’d like the precise gram weight or a photo on ear for scale, message us and we’ll provide it.

Q: How do they fasten and are they secure?
A: They feature a clip‑on closure. Ensure the clips are fully seated before wear. For added comfort and stability, you can use small silicone cushions or disc backings on the clips—contact us if you’d like recommendations.

Q: Are clip‑on earrings comfortable? Any tips to reduce pinching?
A: Comfort varies by earlobe thickness and clip tension. Helpful tips include: adding soft silicone pads to cushion the clip, adjusting clip tension slightly (a jeweller can assist), choosing shorter wear times initially, and avoiding heavy pulls from scarves or hair. If the clips pinch, take breaks and adjust before continuing wear.

Q: Are they suitable for sensitive ears? Are they nickel‑free?
A: Vintage fashion jewellery alloys may contain nickel. If you have sensitivities, consider using clear barrier products on contact points, adding silicone pads, and limiting wear time. Discontinue use if irritation occurs and contact us for guidance.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect on vintage Hermès earrings?
A: Hermès costume jewellery typically features the HERMÈS signature (often “Hermès Paris”), sometimes a “Bijouterie Fantaisie” mark, and a country of origin such as “Made in France.” Placement and format vary by era. Our listing images show any stamps present on this pair.

Q: How should I care for the gold‑plated finish?
A: Keep them dry and away from perfume, lotions, hairspray and hand sanitiser. After wear, gently wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Do not soak, use ultrasonic cleaners or chemical dips. Store them individually in a pouch/box, away from humidity and friction, to preserve the plating and shine.

Q: Can clip‑on earrings be converted to pierced (post backs)?
A: Many jewellers can convert clip‑ons to posts, depending on construction. Conversion and replating are external services we don’t offer in‑house; we can recommend specialists. Note that any alteration may affect originality and future resale value—consider carefully before proceeding.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return them?
A: These earrings are in Very Good Condition with light signs consistent with careful vintage wear unless noted otherwise. This listing includes no accessories unless specifically shown or stated. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
