Q: What are the measurements of the Louis Vuitton Damier Recoleta and how does that translate in inches?
A: The measurements listed on this page are approximately 26 × 12 × 6.5 cm, with a strap drop of about 20 cm. This is roughly 10.2 × 4.7 × 2.6 inches with a strap drop around 7.9 inches. Handmade pieces can vary slightly. Comparable listings typically show about 10.25 × 4.75 × 2.75 inches and a 7.75-inch strap drop.

Q: What typically fits inside this bag?
A: It is a compact shoulder bag that fits daily essentials such as a large smartphone placed horizontally, a compact wallet or slim long wallet, keys, and a few small cosmetics. Packing sunglasses is best with a slim or soft case to maximise space.

Q: Is the strap adjustable or removable? Can it be worn crossbody?
A: The Recoleta was designed as a short shoulder baguette-style bag with a fixed, single strap and is not intended for crossbody wear. The typical drop is around 20 cm, which sits comfortably under the arm for shoulder carry.

Q: How does the bag close, and is the magnetic closure safe for credit cards?
A: It has a flap with a magnetic snap-style closure. As with any magnet, it is sensible to keep cards with magnetic stripes away from direct, prolonged contact. EMV chip cards are generally not affected, but the stripe can be if repeatedly exposed to a strong magnet. Storing cards in a wallet compartment away from the closure is recommended.

Q: What is the interior lining and pocket layout?
A: The interior is lined in Alcantara microfibre and typically features one slip pocket, keeping small items organised while protecting delicate pieces.

Q: Is the Damier Recoleta still in production? What era is this style from?
A: The Damier Ebene Recoleta is a vintage, Y2K-era style produced in the early to mid‑2000s and has since been discontinued. Many documented examples are from 2002–2004.

Q: How should I care for Damier Ebene coated canvas and the leather trim?
A: Wipe coated canvas with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry carefully. Avoid harsh chemicals, alcohol-based products, and direct heat or prolonged sunlight. Do not overfill; store stuffed with tissue in a breathable dust bag in a cool, dry place. For the leather trim, keep it dry and avoid oils or cleaners. Alcantara interiors should be kept dry; remove dust with a soft brush or lint roller.

Q: Does this item come with any extras?
A: Everything included with the purchase is listed under product information on this page. If an item such as a dust bag or box is not listed there, it is not included with this piece.

Q: Does it have a serial number or a date code, and where might I find it?
A: Louis Vuitton uses date codes (not unique serial numbers) on vintage pieces like this to indicate where and when the item was made. On Alcantara-lined bags, the code is often stamped on the lining or on a small leather tab near the interior pocket. Date codes assist with dating but are not proof of authenticity on their own. A Retro Tale independently authenticates every item through multi‑point checks and stands behind the authenticity of all pieces we sell.
