Q: What typically fits inside the Louis Vuitton Epi Speedy 30?
A: As a medium everyday bag (approx. 30 × 19 × 16 cm), it comfortably holds a long wallet, phone, sunglasses case, keys, a small cosmetics pouch, a 500 ml water bottle placed horizontally, and a tablet or A5 notebook. It will not fit A4 folders or a 13-inch laptop. Capacity varies depending on how you pack—please refer to the Measurements shown on this page for exact sizing.

Q: Does this Speedy 30 come with a shoulder strap?
A: The classic Speedy is a handheld bag with dual rolled handles and no shoulder strap or strap rings. If you prefer hands-free wear, look for the Speedy Bandoulière version, which includes a detachable strap and dedicated attachments. The handle drop on this piece is approximately 10 cm.

Q: What are the benefits of Epi leather?
A: Epi leather is a textured, dyed-through leather known for its durability and water resistance. It is more structured than many smooth leathers and helps the bag keep its shape while resisting everyday scuffs—ideal for frequent use and varied weather.

Q: How should I care for vintage Epi leather?
A: Wipe the surface with a soft, slightly damp cloth and allow it to air dry. Avoid soaps, solvents, oils, and prolonged exposure to heat or direct sunlight. Store the bag loosely stuffed in a breathable dust bag to maintain its shape. A lightweight felt organiser or base shaper can add structure, but avoid overloading the bag.

Q: Does the Epi Speedy 30 have an exterior pocket and what is it best for?
A: Epi Speedy models commonly feature a slim exterior side pocket. It is useful for flat items you need quickly, such as travel cards or receipts. Avoid overstuffing to prevent stretching of the leather.

Q: How is the inside of the bag arranged?
A: The interior is a single main compartment with a small slip pocket for essentials. The top zip closure provides secure access.

Q: What does the date code VI0917 indicate?
A: In Louis Vuitton’s 1990–2006 format, the letters show the country of manufacture and the numbers show month and year. VI indicates France; 0917 decodes to January 1997. This aligns with the Made in France stamp shown on this piece.

Q: Can I add an aftermarket strap to the classic Speedy?
A: The classic Speedy was not designed for shoulder carry, and clipping a strap to the handle hardware can put stress on the handles and distort the bag over time. For regular hands‑free wear, the Bandoulière versions are recommended.

Q: Is Epi leather rain-friendly?
A: Yes, Epi leather is generally water resistant and more weather tolerant than many leathers. Wipe off moisture promptly and avoid soaking the bag or exposing it to heavy rain for extended periods. Protect light-coloured textiles inside from potential moisture.

Q: What is included with this listing?
A: Everything included is always listed in the product information on this page. If an item such as a padlock, keys, or a dust bag is not listed there, it is not included.
