Q: What typically fits inside the Louis Vuitton Monogram Croissant GM?
A: Based on this bag’s measurements (approx. 37 × 27 × 4 cm), it comfortably carries daily essentials: a large smartphone, continental wallet, keys, slim sunglasses in a soft case, earbuds and a small cosmetics pouch. A compact umbrella or a 330 ml bottle can lie horizontally; bulkier items may distort the crescent shape. If you’d like a tailored fit check for a specific item, just ask and we’ll test this exact piece.

Q: Will it fit an iPad, laptop or A4 documents?
A: Slim 11-inch tablets can fit at an angle without a bulky case, but the curved zip opening and shallow depth make larger devices and A4 folders (29.7 × 21 cm) impractical to slide in flat. For commuting with documents or a laptop, we recommend a different silhouette. Share your device’s dimensions and we’ll confirm the fit in this piece.

Q: Is the strap adjustable and can I wear it crossbody?
A: The Croissant GM features a flat shoulder strap with buckle adjustment for a comfortable shoulder carry. On this piece the drop is about 21 cm (see Measurements). It’s designed primarily for the shoulder; true crossbody wear is generally not achievable without aftermarket extenders, which we don’t recommend as they can stress the strap/hardware.

Q: How secure is the closure and what is the interior like?
A: The bag has a zip‑top main compartment for everyday security and a red Alcantara (microfibre) lining with an interior pocket for small items. Layout details can vary slightly by year—please review our photos for the exact configuration of this piece.

Q: What are the materials and how durable is Monogram canvas?
A: The exterior is Louis Vuitton’s Monogram coated canvas with natural vachetta leather trim and brass‑tone hardware. Coated canvas is lightweight and highly durable with good resistance to everyday wear; the vachetta trim is untreated, so it will darken naturally over time and is sensitive to water and oils.

Q: The vachetta shows a visible patina and watermarks—can this be improved, and how should I care for it?
A: A honey patina is part of vachetta’s character. Light surface marks can often be reduced by a specialist using gentle, wax‑free conditioners; older watermarks or dark stains are best assessed by a reputable luxury leather care professional. For routine care, keep the leather dry, avoid prolonged sunlight and colour transfer, and wipe with a soft, dry cloth only. If you choose to condition, do so sparingly after testing on a discreet area.

Q: What does the date code CA1022 mean, and where is it located?
A: “CA” indicates a Spanish workshop. In the 1990–2006 format, the first and third digits denote the month and the second and fourth denote the year—so “1022” decodes to December 2002. On Croissant bags with Alcantara lining, the code is typically stamped directly on the lining near or inside the pocket. Note that from around 2021 Louis Vuitton transitioned from visible date codes to embedded microchips on new items; pre‑2007 pieces like this one use the month‑year code format described.

Q: Is the Croissant GM still produced?
A: The original Monogram Croissant line (PM/MM/GM) from the early 2000s is discontinued. Louis Vuitton has since released newer crescent‑shaped styles in recent years, but the vintage Croissant GM remains a sought‑after Y2K icon available primarily on the pre‑loved market.

Q: How does it wear on the shoulder—is it heavy?
A: The combination of coated canvas and a single flat strap makes it lightweight and easy for day‑to‑night wear. The crescent shape tucks comfortably under the arm; if you’re sensitive to weight, we’re happy to provide an exact scale weight for this specific item on request.

Q: What accessories are included and how do you authenticate?
A: Everything included with this listing is stated under “Accessories”; for this piece it’s listed as no accessories. Every item at A Retro Tale undergoes rigorous, multi‑point authentication by our in‑house experts, assessing materials, stitching, hardware, stamps, date code and overall construction. We stand behind the authenticity of every piece we sell.
