Louis VuittonMonogram Cruiser 40 Bag

Q: What typically fits inside the Louis Vuitton Monogram Cruiser 40 Bag?
A: With measurements of approximately 39.5 x 40 x 23 cm, this bag is best suited to weekend essentials such as a few changes of clothes, a toiletry pouch, flat shoes and daily travel items. Its structured shape makes it practical for organised packing.

Q: Is the Cruiser 40 suitable as a carry-on bag?
A: It can work well for short trips, but carry-on approval always depends on the airline’s size rules and how fully the bag is packed. As this model has a structured, boxy shape, we recommend checking your airline’s current cabin baggage limits before travelling.

Q: Does this bag come with a shoulder strap?
A: No shoulder strap is listed in the product information for this item. This Cruiser 40 is designed to be carried by hand using the top handles, which have an approximate handle drop of 12 cm.

Q: What is a poignet?
A: A poignet is a leather handle keeper that wraps around the two top handles to hold them together more comfortably when carrying the bag by hand. For this item, a name tag and poignet are included in the product information.

Q: What material is the bag made from?
A: This model is made in Louis Vuitton’s iconic Monogram coated canvas with natural leather trim and handles. The coated canvas is durable for regular use, while the untreated leather develops patina over time and may show watermarks or darkening with age.

Q: What does the condition of this bag mean in practice?
A: This bag is listed in good condition. The exterior shows patina and watermarks on the leather, along with slightly scuffed handles. The interior shows light traces of use, and the hardware remains shiny with light scratches.

Q: How should I care for this vintage Louis Vuitton bag?
A: Wipe the coated canvas gently with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid over-wetting the leather trim, as natural leather can darken and mark with moisture. When not in use, store the bag in a cool, dry place and keep it lightly stuffed to help preserve its shape.

Q: What does the date code SP0917 indicate?
A: The date code indicates production in France, and the numeric format places the bag in 1997. On vintage Louis Vuitton pieces, the date code helps identify when and where the item was made, but it is only one part of the overall authentication process.

Q: Is this a good everyday bag or more of a travel bag?
A: The Cruiser 40 is generally better suited as a small weekender or travel bag than as an everyday handbag. Its structured silhouette and roomy interior make it especially useful for overnight stays, car journeys and smart travel packing.
