Q: Is this Tiffany & Co. Diamonds by the Yard Necklace authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What materials is it made from? Is it solid gold?
A: This necklace is crafted from solid 18k yellow gold and features a single bezel‑set brilliant‑cut diamond. Designed by Elsa Peretti for Tiffany & Co., it is a piece of fine jewellery, not plated costume jewellery.

Q: What is the length and how will it sit when worn?
A: The chain has a perimeter of approximately 40 cm (about 16 inches). This is a standard shorter length that typically sits right at the collarbone or the hollow of the neck on most wearers, making it an elegant standalone piece or the perfect top layer in a stack.

Q: How large is the diamond setting?
A: The width of the bezel setting is listed at approximately 0.44 cm (4.4 mm). While the specific carat weight is not stated on the item, the Elsa Peretti bezel mounting is designed to catch the light and enhance the visual presence of the diamond.

Q: How does it fasten? Is the clasp secure?
A: It features a classic spring‑ring clasp. This delicate closure is standard for fine chains in the Diamonds by the Yard collection and provides a secure hold for everyday wear.

Q: Can I wear this necklace every day?
A: Yes, the Diamonds by the Yard collection was specifically designed to revolutionise diamonds for everyday wear. The 18k gold and diamond construction is durable, though we recommend treating the fine chain with care to avoid snagging.

Q: What hallmarks should I look for?
A: Authentic pieces from this collection typically feature a small tag near the clasp or stamps on the clasp itself. You should expect to see "Tiffany & Co.", the designer’s signature "Peretti" or "Elsa Peretti", and a gold purity mark such as "750" or "18k".

Q: How should I care for the diamond and gold chain?
A: To maintain its sparkle, clean it occasionally with a mild solution of warm water and washing‑up liquid, brushing gently with a soft toothbrush. Store it hanging or flat in a box to prevent the fine chain from knotting or tangling.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return it?
A: This necklace is in Very Good Condition, meaning it has been well‑cared for with only light signs of wear possible. It comes with no accessories (no box or pouch) unless specifically shown in the images. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
