Q: What are the measurements and how will they sit on the ear?
A: This vintage pair measures approximately 0.6 cm high and 1.0 cm wide. The domed Bean motif offers petite lobe coverage that is discrete and comfortable for everyday wear. For context, Tiffany’s current collection includes a 9 mm-wide Bean stud; please refer to our measurements and photos for your ideal fit.

Q: What does the Elsa Peretti Bean design symbolise?
A: Created in the early 1970s, the Bean is celebrated for its smooth, organic contours and is widely described as a symbol of life’s beginnings and potential.

Q: What material are these earrings made from, and do they tarnish?
A: They are crafted in sterling silver (.925). Like all sterling silver, they can naturally tarnish over time, especially with exposure to air, salt, chlorine or chemicals. Regular wear and proper care help keep them bright.

Q: How should I clean and store sterling silver Bean earrings?
A: Use a soft silver polishing cloth or a small amount of silver jewellery cleaner, then rinse in warm water and dry thoroughly. Store them dry in a soft pouch to limit abrasion and tarnish. Avoid bleach, chlorine and harsh household cleaners.

Q: Is the Bean design still produced by Tiffany & Co. today?
A: Yes. The Bean remains an active Tiffany collection, and sterling silver Bean stud earrings are currently part of the range. This listing is a vintage pair with the measurements shown above.

Q: Are they suitable for sensitive ears or nickel allergies?
A: Tiffany states its sterling silver meets the .925 standard (92.5% pure silver) alloyed with other metals. If you have a known nickel sensitivity or very reactive skin, consider consulting a jeweller and opting for higher-purity metals like platinum or gold.

Q: What hallmarks should I expect on authentic vintage Peretti pieces?
A: Authentic examples typically show precise signatures such as Tiffany & Co., Peretti and a metal mark like 925; exact placement and font can vary by era. Craftsmanship cues include clean finishing and even, symmetrical forms.

Q: Do these come with a box, pouch or spare backs?
A: Please refer to the product information section on this page for everything included with this listing. If a Tiffany box, pouch or spare earring backs are not mentioned there, they are not included.

Q: Can Tiffany polish or service these earrings?
A: Yes. Tiffany & Co. offers professional cleaning and repair services for their jewellery; polishing can be requested for a fee through their client services.
