Q: Is this Van Cleef & Arpels Sweet Alhambra Carnelian Hearts Bracelet authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What is it made from? Is it solid gold and is the carnelian genuine?
A: Authentic Van Cleef & Arpels Sweet Alhambra bracelets are crafted in 18‑carat rose gold with a genuine carnelian heart motif. Our team verifies hallmarks and materials on each piece; please review the macro photos and contact us if you’d like us to reconfirm the exact stamps and fineness for this bracelet.

Q: What are the measurements and will it fit my wrist?
A: The bracelet is noted to fit a wrist up to approximately 16.5 cm. The heart motif is about 0.95 cm across. For best fit, measure your wrist snugly and compare to the 16.5 cm wearable length; we’re happy to provide extra measurements or a model photo on request.

Q: Is it adjustable or can it be resized?
A: The bracelet features a fine link chain with a lobster clasp. Minor adjustments (such as adding a jump ring for a closer fit or removing links to shorten) can usually be done by a skilled jeweller; Van Cleef & Arpels boutiques may also offer sizing services at their discretion and for a fee. Any modification may affect originality and resale value—ask us for guidance before making changes.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect?
A: VCA fine jewellery typically bears the VCA signature, an Au750 (18‑carat) fineness mark, and a unique serial number; French pieces may also carry a French assay hallmark. Placement varies (often near the clasp tag or on the reverse/side of the motif). Our listing photos show the stamps present on this bracelet.

Q: Can I wear it every day? Is it safe to shower or swim with it?
A: It’s suitable for regular wear, but we recommend removing it before showering, swimming, exercising or sleeping. Avoid knocks and abrasion when stacking with other bracelets, as 18‑carat gold is relatively soft and carnelian can chip if struck.

Q: How should I care for the rose gold and carnelian?
A: Keep it dry and away from perfume, lotions, hand sanitiser and household chemicals. After wear, gently wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners and chemical dips. Store it separately in a pouch or box to prevent scratches, and keep the carnelian away from prolonged direct sunlight or high heat to preserve its colour.

Q: Will the colour of the carnelian vary?
A: Yes—carnelian is a natural stone, so subtle variations in tone and translucency are normal. Each motif is unique; slight differences from stock imagery should be expected and are part of its character.

Q: What condition should I expect and what is included?
A: This bracelet is in Very Good Condition with light signs of careful wear possible. Unless specifically shown or stated otherwise, this listing includes no accessories. Please review photos for condition details.

Q: What is your returns policy for this item?
A: Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and ensure the bracelet is returned in the same condition received.
