Q: What typically fits inside the Chanel Patent Mademoiselle Kelly Bag?
A: With measurements of approximately 22 × 20 × 15 cm, it is best suited to daily essentials such as a phone, compact wallet, keys, sunglasses and a few small beauty items. It feels more spacious than a mini bag, but it is still a compact handbag rather than a large day bag.

Q: Can this bag be carried by hand or on the shoulder?
A: Yes. This style features a single top handle with a handle drop of approximately 10 cm, as well as a leather-interwoven chain strap with a drop of approximately 36 cm. For most wearers, that makes it suitable for hand carry or shoulder wear rather than crossbody use.

Q: Is this bag vintage, and when was it made?
A: Yes, this is a vintage Chanel piece. The serial number begins with 12, which corresponds to production around 2008 to 2009.

Q: What material is this bag made from?
A: This bag is crafted in black quilted patent leather with silver-tone hardware and a grey fabric lining. Patent leather is prized for its glossy finish, structured feel and elegant vintage look.

Q: Is patent leather durable?
A: Patent leather is generally durable and easy to wipe clean, but it can show surface scratches, colour transfer and, over time, stickiness if stored in heat or humidity. Black patent is usually more forgiving in everyday wear than lighter patent shades.

Q: How should I care for patent leather?
A: Wipe it gently with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth and avoid harsh cleaners, oils and standard leather conditioner. Store it away from heat, direct sunlight and printed materials, and keep it in a breathable dust bag with light stuffing to help preserve its shape and finish.

Q: What does the interior look like?
A: According to the product information, the interior has a grey fabric lining with one internal pocket, which is useful for organising smaller essentials.

Q: What is included with this bag?
A: This piece comes with its serial number and authenticity card. Please refer to the product information on this page for the full list of included items.

Q: What is the condition of this bag?
A: The exterior and interior are both listed as Very Good with only very light traces of use. The hardware is described as shiny with light scratches, which is consistent with careful vintage wear.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: A Retro Tale states that its items are checked and certified by experts. For vintage Chanel, authentication typically involves reviewing the serial sticker, authenticity card, materials, hardware, stitching and overall construction.
