Q: How can I wear this square silk scarf?

Q: What does Ex-Libris mean, and what inspired the design?
A: Ex-libris refers to a bookplate or ownership mark used in books. The Hermès design draws on the house’s emblem and equestrian heritage, including a waiting groom and carriage imagery. The original design was created by Hugo Grygkar in 1946; this does not establish the production year of this particular scarf.

Q: Can I wash this Hermès silk scarf at home?
A: Hermès recommends avoiding washing its scarves and instead entrusting them to a professional dry cleaner. Choose a cleaner experienced with printed silk and ask them to handle the edges carefully. Follow any care label present on this particular item.

Q: Can I wear this scarf in the rain?
A: It is best to keep it out of the rain. Hermès warns that rain can damage printing on silk, so this scarf should not be used as protection from wet weather.

Q: How should I store this scarf between wears?
A: Let it air after wearing, then store it clean and dry, gently folded in a cool place away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture. Avoid spraying perfume or hair products directly onto the silk.
