Q: What model and year is this Rolex?
A: This watch is listed as a Rolex Datejust, reference 1601, dating to circa 1955. The year is approximate, as stated in the product information.

Q: What size is the watch?
A: The watch has a 36 mm case diameter. Check this measurement alongside your wrist size and preferred watch proportions when considering the fit.

Q: What wrist size will the bracelet fit?
A: The bracelet is listed as fitting a wrist measuring 18.5 cm or smaller. If you require a larger fit, please contact A Retro Tale before purchasing; additional links are not listed in the product information.

Q: What condition is this watch in?
A: The overall condition is rated Very Good. The exterior shows light signs of use, with scratches on the case and bracelet. The internal condition is rated Good. These ratings do not specify timekeeping accuracy or a recent service.

Q: Does the watch come with a box or papers?
A: No accessories are included, so the watch is supplied without a box or papers. Please refer to the product information for the contents included with this piece.

Q: Is this an automatic watch, and does it need a battery?
A: The Datejust 1601 is an automatic mechanical watch, so it does not use a battery. Wrist movement winds the movement during wear, and manual winding may be needed after it has stopped. Ask for model-appropriate winding and setting guidance if you are unfamiliar with vintage Rolex watches.

Q: Can I swim or shower while wearing this vintage Rolex?
A: Water resistance is not confirmed in the product information. Do not assume that a vintage watch retains its original resistance to water. Keep this piece out of water unless a qualified watchmaker has checked its seals, pressure-tested it and confirmed suitable use.

Q: Has this watch recently been serviced?
A: A service date or service history is not provided. The Good internal condition rating should not be taken as confirmation of a recent overhaul. Please contact A Retro Tale if you would like further information about servicing or timekeeping before purchasing.

Q: Is this vintage Datejust suitable for everyday wear?
A: A well-maintained vintage Datejust can be worn regularly, but this watch's suitability depends on its mechanical condition and maintenance history. Avoid knocks and water exposure, and have a qualified watchmaker assess it if you plan to wear it daily.

Q: How should I clean this watch?
A: Gently wipe the exterior with a clean, soft microfibre cloth. As water resistance is unconfirmed, do not immerse the watch or rinse it under a tap. Leave deeper cleaning, polishing and mechanical maintenance to a qualified watchmaker experienced with vintage watches.
