Q: What fits inside this vintage Bottega Veneta Top Handle Bag?
A: With a width of 22 cm and a generous depth of 15 cm, this bag is compact yet surprisingly capacious. It typically holds a large smartphone (including Pro/Max models), a compact wallet, keys and a lipstick. The boxy silhouette and deep profile allow for bulkier items that flat bags can’t accommodate, such as a sunglasses case or a small digital camera. Please refer to the Measurements on this page or contact us for a tailored fit check.

Q: Can I wear this bag on my shoulder?
A: This specific vintage model is designed as a classic top handle bag. It features a single handle with a 14 cm drop, making it ideal for carrying by hand or in the crook of the arm. It does not include a long shoulder strap for crossbody wear.

Q: How secure is the closure?
A: The bag features a flap with a magnetic closure, offering easy access to your essentials. While suitable for daily use, we recommend keeping the bag upright during travel to ensure items remain secure. For valuables, you can use the internal zip pocket.

Q: What is Intrecciato leather?
A: Intrecciato is Bottega Veneta’s signature technique where strips of leather are hand-woven to create a durable and flexible structure. This method reinforces the leather without the need for heavy backing, resulting in a piece that is both lightweight and instantly recognisable.

Q: How should I care for the vintage woven leather?
A: Intrecciato leather is durable but can be susceptible to snagging on sharp objects or jewellery. Keep the bag away from moisture, oils and prolonged direct sunlight. If it gets wet, blot gently with a soft, dry cloth. To maintain the shape of the woven structure, store the bag lightly stuffed and upright in a breathable dust bag when not in use.

Q: What is the condition of this specific item?
A: This is a vintage piece described as being in “Good” condition with light traces of use. The hardware is shiny with light scratches, and the leather shows signs consistent with gentle wear. Please review the detailed condition report and photos on this page to assess its exact state.

Q: Does it come with any accessories?
A: This item is sold as the bag alone and does not include additional accessories such as a dust bag or box. Anything included will always be listed under the “Accessories” section of the product description.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in-house experts. We check materials, stitching, hardware finishes, and brand markings—such as the interior tags found in vintage Bottega Veneta pieces—to ensure full authenticity. We stand behind every item we sell.
