Q: Are these Chanel 1990s Rhombus Earrings authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What materials are they made from? Is it solid gold?
A: These earrings are costume jewellery crafted from gold‑tone metal (typically 24k gold‑plated base metal in this era) featuring a large faux pearl centrepiece. They are not solid gold. The “faux pearls” used by Chanel in the 1990s are renowned for their lustre but are coated beads (often glass or high‑quality resin), not natural pearls.

Q: What are the measurements and how do they sit on the ear?
A: They measure approximately 3 cm (height) x 3 cm (width). This is a classic “button” or statement size that sits flat against the earlobe, offering a bold vintage look without the extreme length of dangle styles.

Q: How do they fasten? Are they comfortable?
A: They feature a traditional paddle clip‑on mechanism suitable for non‑pierced ears. Vintage Chanel clips are secure; if you find them tight after prolonged wear, adding a small silicone or rubber cushion pad (available from most jewellers) can significantly improve comfort.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I look for?
A: Vintage Chanel jewellery from the 1990s typically features an oval authenticity plaque on the back. It usually displays the CHANEL signature, the CC logo, and “Made in France”. Depending on the exact year, it may also include a season code (e.g., 95P). Our close‑up photos show the specific stamps on this pair.

Q: Are they suitable for sensitive skin?
A: Vintage costume jewellery alloys often contain nickel. If you have metal sensitivities, we recommend testing them for short periods or using a clear barrier product on the metal backings. Discontinue wear if irritation occurs.

Q: How should I care for the faux pearls and gold plating?
A: Vintage faux pearls are delicate; never spray perfume, hairspray, or water directly onto them as alcohol can cause the pearlescent coating to peel. Wipe them gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth after use. Store them separately in a pouch to prevent the metal from scratching the pearl surface.

Q: What condition should I expect, and can I return them?
A: These earrings are in Very Good Condition (Condition 353326), meaning they have been well‑preserved with only light signs of vintage wear. No accessories are included. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
