Q: Are these solid gold or gold‑tone?
A: These are Chanel costume jewellery earrings crafted in gold‑tone metal with rhinestone (strass) embellishment, not solid gold. This gives the look of gold with a lighter feel while keeping the vintage aesthetic.

Q: Will clip‑on earrings be comfortable if I have pierced ears?
A: Yes. Clip‑ons can be worn by anyone, with or without piercings. For all‑day comfort, many wearers add soft silicone pads to cushion the clip and distribute pressure, and avoid over‑tightening. If adjustment is needed, ask a professional jeweller to fine‑tune the tension rather than bending the clip at home.

Q: How big are they and how do they sit on the ear?
A: Each earring measures approximately 3 × 2 cm. The diamond‑shaped design with a central rhinestone sits neatly on the lobe; the clip‑on fastening holds the piece securely without a post.

Q: How should I care for rhinestones and gold‑tone plating?
A: Wipe after wear with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid contact with water, perfumes, lotions and hairspray, and do not soak or use ultrasonic cleaners as moisture can affect the adhesive/foil behind rhinestones. Store the earrings in a dry place, separately from other pieces to minimise scratches.

Q: What if a stone is loose or goes missing?
A: Small rhinestones can usually be replaced by a specialist jeweller who works with vintage costume pieces. Exact colour and cut matches may vary with age, so results can differ from the original. We recommend professional assessment to preserve the integrity of vintage Chanel jewellery.

Q: Can these be converted from clip‑on to pierced posts?
A: Some jewellers offer conversions, but altering vintage designer earrings can affect originality and potential resale value. If you prefer posts, consider non‑permanent converters or consult a trusted jeweller before making irreversible changes.

Q: Are they nickel‑free?
A: The exact alloy of vintage costume jewellery can vary and we cannot guarantee these are nickel‑free. If you have sensitive skin, consider using silicone pads as a barrier, limit wear time, and discontinue use if irritation occurs.

Q: How can I tell they are authentic Chanel?
A: Many Chanel earrings (especially from the late 1980s onward) feature a signature plaque or stamp indicating the brand and often the collection season. Beyond hallmarks, authenticity is supported by construction quality, materials and finishing. Every piece offered by A Retro Tale is thoroughly vetted by our in‑house experts before listing.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under the product information section for this listing. This pair is offered without additional items unless explicitly stated there.
