Q: Is this Chanel Coco Mark Brooch authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What is it made from? Is it solid gold?
A: Chanel Coco Mark brooches are part of Chanel’s costume jewellery line and are typically crafted from plated base metal in a gold‑tone finish rather than solid gold. This piece is described as gold‑tone metal.

Q: What are the measurements and how big will it look when worn?
A: The brooch measures approximately 3.5 cm (height) x 4.5 cm (width) x 1 cm (depth). It offers a noticeable CC accent without being overly heavy for most structured fabrics. If you’d like the exact gram weight or an on‑model photo for scale, just ask and we’ll provide it.

Q: How does it fasten and is it secure?
A: It features a traditional pin fastening at the back. Ensure the catch is fully closed before wear. For extra security or on finer knits, use a small brooch stopper/locking clutch or place a thin felt/backing disc inside the garment to distribute weight and minimise pull.

Q: Can I wear it on coats, knitwear, scarves or bags? Will it damage delicate fabrics?
A: Yes—brooches work beautifully on structured fabrics such as wool, tweed, denim and canvas, and can be styled on lapels, hats, scarves or bag straps. On delicate materials (silk or fine cashmere), test in an inconspicuous spot and consider reinforcing with a small piece of felt or interfacing on the inside to avoid pulls or pinholes.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect on a vintage Chanel brooch?
A: Many vintage Chanel brooches feature an oval or round plaque on the reverse stamped CHANEL, often with “Made in France/Italy” and, depending on era, a season/date code. Plaque designs and formats vary by period, so exact markings differ from piece to piece. Our close‑up photos show any stamps present on this brooch. Country of origin for this item is noted as France.

Q: Is it nickel‑free and suitable for sensitive skin?
A: Fashion jewellery alloys and platings may contain nickel. If you have sensitivities, wear it over clothing, consider applying a clear barrier product to contact points, and discontinue use if irritation occurs. We’re happy to advise further.

Q: How should I care for the gold‑tone finish?
A: Keep it dry and away from perfume, hairspray, lotions and hand sanitiser. After wear, wipe gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Do not soak, use ultrasonic cleaners or chemical dips. Store separately in a pouch/box to minimise scratches and preserve the finish.

Q: Can it be repaired, replated or converted to a pendant?
A: A competent jeweller can usually straighten or tighten the pin and replace a catch; gentle replating may also be possible. Non‑invasive brooch‑to‑pendant converters exist if you’d like to wear it on a chain. Note that modifications can affect originality and resale value—ask us for guidance.

Q: What condition should I expect and what is included? Can I return it?
A: This item is in Very Good Condition with light signs of careful wear possible unless noted otherwise. It comes with no accessories unless specifically shown or stated. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please review eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
