Q: Are these Gucci Butterfly Rhinestone Earrings authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What are they made of? Are the stones real diamonds and is the metal solid gold?
A: Gucci fashion jewellery typically uses plated base metal (often brass) in gold‑tone or palladium‑tone finishes, set with glass crystals/rhinestones. The stones are not diamonds and the metal is not solid gold unless explicitly stated. Exact composition varies by collection—please review the photos and contact us if you’d like us to confirm specifics for this pair.

Q: Are they for pierced ears or clip‑on, and how do they fasten?
A: Gucci earrings exist in both pierced and clip‑on versions. Many butterfly styles use a post with butterfly back for pierced ears. Please check the close‑up images on this page or message us and we’ll confirm the exact fastening for this pair.

Q: What size and weight are they? Will they feel heavy?
A: Please refer to the Measurements section and imagery for dimensions. If you’d like precise height/width and approximate gram weight for comfort reference, contact us and we’ll measure them. Statement earrings can have presence; larger backs or comfort pads can help with extended wear.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect on Gucci earrings?
A: Typical markings include “GUCCI” and often “Made in Italy,” sometimes with a style or season code. Sterling silver pieces are usually marked “AG 925.” Placement varies by design (on the reverse or on the fittings). Our listing photos show any stamps present on this pair.

Q: How should I care for rhinestones and plated finishes?
A: Keep them dry and away from perfume, hairspray, lotions and hand sanitiser. After wear, gently wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth; use a dry cotton bud to remove dust around stone settings. Do not soak, use ultrasonic cleaners or chemical dips. Store individually in a pouch/box, out of direct sunlight and humidity, to help preserve sparkle and colour.

Q: Are they nickel‑free and suitable for sensitive ears?
A: Fashion jewellery alloys may contain nickel. If you have sensitivities, consider hypoallergenic barrier discs or applying a clear barrier product on contact points, and limit wear time. Discontinue use if irritation occurs and contact us for guidance.

Q: Will the plating or stones show wear over time?
A: Plated finishes can show light surface wear, micro‑scratches or minor colour fade at high‑contact points. Rhinestones may dull if exposed to moisture or cosmetics. Proper care—keeping them dry, wiping after wear and storing carefully—helps maintain appearance. Any notable wear is reflected in our condition notes and photos.

Q: Can backs be replaced, and can they be repaired or replated?
A: Butterfly backs can usually be replaced like‑for‑like by a jeweller. Common third‑party services include clip tension adjustment (for clip‑ons), stone re‑setting/replacement and gentle replating. Gucci’s repair services for fashion jewellery are at their discretion and vary by boutique. We don’t modify items in‑house but can recommend reputable specialists on request.

Q: What is included and can I return them?
A: Only accessories specifically shown or listed (e.g., Gucci box/pouch) are included; Gucci generally does not issue separate authenticity cards for fashion jewellery. Earrings are eligible for return under our standard policy provided they are unworn, any hygiene seals (if applied) remain intact, and the item is returned in the same condition received. Please see our Returns page for full details.
