Q: What typically fits inside the Triana?
A: With its structured profile and approximate measurements of 26 × 22 × 12 cm, it comfortably holds a long continental wallet, smartphone, keys, sunglasses, a small cosmetics pouch and a compact tablet (such as an iPad mini). A standard water bottle may fit horizontally, but bulkier items can limit the zip opening. Capacity varies by how you pack and by any organiser used—please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact dimensions.

Q: Is it A4 or laptop friendly?
A: No. An A4 document (29.7 cm) or a 13-inch laptop will not fit without bending or forcing. Slim e‑readers and 7–8 inch tablets fit more comfortably.

Q: Does this piece come with a shoulder strap?
A: This specific bag is configured as a handheld top-handle with an approximate 10 cm handle drop and does not include a long shoulder strap. The Triana was primarily designed to be carried by its rolled handles; some pre-loved listings may show an added or separate strap. Everything included with our item is listed under the product information section.

Q: How is the Triana laid out inside and outside?
A: The top zip opens wide to a red Alcantara-lined interior with an internal pocket. Externally there are two slim pockets for quick-access items such as travel cards or receipts. The structured shape helps the bag stand on its own and keeps contents organised.

Q: Is the Triana still in production?
A: The Triana is a discontinued Louis Vuitton style and is now available primarily on the pre-owned market. Availability can vary, which is why examples in very good condition are sought after by collectors.

Q: What does the date code VI1021 mean on this bag?
A: VI indicates manufacture in France. For codes used in the 1990–2006 period, the first and third digits represent the month and the second and fourth digits the year. Therefore, VI1021 corresponds to December 2001, made in France.

Q: How durable is Damier Ebene canvas and is it water-resistant?
A: Damier Ebene is a coated canvas that is robust and water-resistant for everyday use, but not fully waterproof. Light rain is generally fine; wipe moisture off promptly and avoid prolonged exposure to water.

Q: How should I care for the canvas and dark Ebene leather trim?
A: For canvas, wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth, then dry immediately. Avoid alcohol-based products (including hand sanitiser), harsh chemicals, and abrasive scrubbing. The dark Ebene leather is finished, so it tends to maintain its colour with minimal patina; keep it away from oils and heat, and avoid overloading the bag to reduce stress on the glazing. Store stuffed in a breathable dust bag to help retain the shape.

Q: What is included with this item and what are the key condition notes?
A: Included items are always listed under the product information section; for this piece we include brand booklets. Condition notes: exterior good with scuffed corners and surface scratches; interior very good with minor marks; hardware shiny with light scratches. Please review all photos and the condition description.

Q: How do you authenticate items at A Retro Tale?
A: Every item undergoes a rigorous multi-point inspection by our in-house experts, assessing materials, canvas and leather quality, stitching, hardware, stamps, and date codes against known production standards. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can provide additional details on request.
