Q: What typically fits inside the Louis Vuitton Vanity PM?
A: This compact vanity case is designed to hold daily essentials. It comfortably fits a large smartphone (such as an iPhone Pro Max), a compact wallet (like a Victorine or Zippy Coin Purse), keys, lipstick, and AirPods. While spacious for its size, it generally does not accommodate full-length continental wallets or tablets. Please refer to the Measurements on this page or contact us for a tailored fit check.

Q: Is the chain strap adjustable? Can I wear it crossbody?
A: The leather-braided chain strap is detachable but not adjustable. Standard models typically have a strap drop that allows for shoulder or crossbody wear. However, drops can vary by production or condition—please refer to the “Measurements Strap” listed on this page to determine exactly how this specific piece will sit on you.

Q: How practical is the zip-around opening?
A: The Vanity PM features a double zip-around closure that opens widely for easy access. Because the bag is soft-sided and the zipper goes all the way around, it is often best to open it while resting the bag on a surface or supporting it with one hand to keep contents secure. The zipper can be slightly stiff on the corners initially but typically smooths out with use.

Q: Is the bag structured or soft?
A: Unlike traditional hard-sided vanity cases, the Vanity PM is a soft-sided bag crafted from coated canvas. It holds its shape well due to the piping and construction but is pliable and lightweight, making it comfortable for all-day wear.

Q: What materials is this bag made from?
A: This model combines classic Monogram and Monogram Reverse coated canvas, giving it a distinctive two-tone look. It features black calfskin leather trim, a black microfibre lining, and gold-tone hardware. The listing for this bag specifies the exact condition of these materials.

Q: How secure is the closure?
A: The double zipper pulls can be locked together using the included Louis Vuitton padlock, offering excellent security for your valuables.

Q: How should I care for the Reverse Monogram canvas?
A: Coated canvas is durable and water-resistant. Clean it by wiping gently with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid contact with hand sanitisers, lotions, or oils, which can damage the print over time. Store the bag upright in its dust bag to maintain its shape and protect the leather trim.

Q: Where are the brand markings and date code located?
A: You will find a “Louis Vuitton Paris” heat stamp inside (often Made in Italy, France, or Spain). This specific piece features the date code PL3189, indicating it was manufactured in Italy in late 2019. Newer models (post-2021) may have an embedded microchip instead of a visible code.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in-house experts using multi-point checks of materials, stitching, hardware, stamps, and date codes/microchips. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can provide additional details on request.
