Q: What is this necklace made of?
A: It is crafted in solid 18k yellow gold with a red and black enamel ladybird motif. As is typical for Italian 18k jewellery, pieces are usually stamped 750 and Italy; please refer to the photos for the actual hallmarks or contact us for confirmation.

Q: How long is the chain and how will it fit?
A: The chain measures approximately 41 cm (about 16 inches). This falls in the choker to short “princess” range for most, sitting around the base of the neck and layering well with longer chains.

Q: How big is the pendant?
A: The ladybird heart pendant is approximately 1.2 cm wide and 0.4 cm deep. Height is compact and proportionate for everyday wear and layering.

Q: Is the enamel durable and how should I care for it?
A: Enamel is durable for everyday wear but can chip if knocked. Wipe gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth, dry well, and store separately in a pouch. Avoid abrasive cloths, harsh chemicals, perfumes, and ultrasonic cleaners to protect the enamel and gold.

Q: Can I wear it in the shower or while swimming?
A: We recommend removing enamel jewellery before bathing, swimming, or exercising. Prolonged exposure to water, chlorine, salt, heat, sunscreens, and sweat can dull gold finishes and stress enamel over time.

Q: Is 18k gold suitable for sensitive skin?
A: 18k gold has a high gold content and is generally well tolerated by sensitive skin. Alloys vary by maker, so if you have specific metal sensitivities, please check with us and consider a brief wear test.

Q: What does the ladybird symbolise?
A: In European (including Italian) tradition, the ladybird is widely seen as a symbol of luck, protection, and positivity—making this a meaningful gift as well as a charming piece to wear.

Q: Can the length be adjusted?
A: A trusted jeweller can add a small jump ring or a short extender for extra length without affecting the design. Contact us if you would like advice on options for adjusting the fit.

Q: What is included with my purchase?
A: Everything included is listed under product information on this page. If an item such as a branded box or card is not listed there, it is not included.

Q: How do you authenticate this piece? Do you offer a certificate?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is thoroughly inspected by our in‑house experts before listing. An optional third‑party digital certificate of authenticity can also be arranged upon request; please reach out to our team for details.
