Q: What is the Rolex Datejust 36mm Ref. 16200 (2001)?
A: It’s a classic stainless steel Datejust with a 36mm Oyster case, smooth bezel, white dial with Roman numerals, and an automatic self‑winding movement with date. Paired with a steel Oyster bracelet, it’s a refined, versatile choice for everyday and formal wear.

Q: Which movement does the 16200 typically use?
A: Most Datejust Ref. 16200 watches house the Rolex Calibre 3135, an automatic movement with a quickset date. If you’d like, we can confirm the exact calibre inside this specific piece.

Q: Is it water‑resistant, and can I swim with it?
A: The Oyster case was originally rated to 100 metres, but water resistance on vintage watches is not guaranteed. Avoid swimming or showering unless the watch has been freshly serviced and pressure‑tested. Always ensure the crown is fully screwed down before any exposure to moisture.

Q: How do I set the time and date on this Datejust?
A: Unscrew the crown anti‑clockwise. Position 1: wind (20–30 turns if stopped). Position 2: quickset the date. Position 3: set the time. Do not change the date between roughly 8pm and 2am. When finished, push the crown in and screw it down firmly.

Q: Does the 16200 have a sapphire crystal and the Cyclops magnifier?
A: Most Ref. 16200 examples feature a scratch‑resistant sapphire crystal with the Cyclops date magnifier. We can confirm the crystal type on this watch upon request.

Q: Will the 36mm size suit my wrist, and can you adjust the bracelet?
A: 36mm is a classic Datejust size that suits many wrists and wears well as a refined men’s or unisex option. This bracelet fits up to approximately 19.5cm; one extra link is included and we can size it for you before dispatch. Additional links may be sourced subject to availability.

Q: What exactly is included with this watch?
A: It comes as a full set: original inner box, outer box, certificate/papers, and one extra bracelet link. A Retro Tale thoroughly authenticates every item and provides secure, insured delivery, plus a 12‑month mechanical guarantee on all watches.

Q: What is the condition, and can the scratches be polished?
A: Overall good preloved condition with surface scratches on the case, bracelet, clasp and case back. Light professional refinishing can be arranged on request, though many collectors prefer the original edges and finish.

Q: How can I verify the reference and production year?
A: The reference is engraved between the lugs at 12 o’clock and the serial at 6 o’clock (bracelet removal required). Many 2001 pieces carry a “K”‑prefix serial. We’re happy to verify these details and share additional photos if needed.

Q: What accuracy and service interval should I expect?
A: A well‑maintained Calibre 3135 Datejust can run close to period COSC standards (around −4/+6 seconds per day). Service every 5–10 years is generally recommended, or sooner if you notice timekeeping issues or reduced water resistance. Keep the watch away from strong magnets and have it checked if you see condensation.
