Q: What are the key specifications of this Rolex Lady‑Datejust ref. 179160?
A: It features a 26 mm stainless steel (Oystersteel) case with a smooth bezel, sapphire crystal with Cyclops date magnifier, automatic movement, and a stainless steel Oyster bracelet with folding clasp. The movement offers an approximate 48‑hour power reserve and the model was originally rated to 100 m water resistance.

Q: Is the 26 mm Lady‑Datejust still in production?
A: No. Rolex replaced the classic 26 mm size with the modern 28 mm Lady‑Datejust in 2015. As a result, ref. 179160 is available only on the pre‑owned market today.

Q: What movement powers this watch, and what can I expect from it?
A: It uses the Rolex calibre 2235, a self‑winding COSC‑certified chronometer known for durability and precision, with an approximate 48‑hour power reserve and a quick‑changing date feature.

Q: Can I swim or shower with this watch?
A: When new, the Lady‑Datejust was rated to 100 m. With any pre‑owned piece—especially from around 2006—we recommend a recent pressure test and new gaskets before swimming. Always ensure the crown is fully screwed down and avoid hot showers/saunas, which can stress seals.

Q: Will this bracelet fit me, and can it be adjusted?
A: This example fits a wrist up to 16.5 cm as listed. The Oyster bracelet can be sized by removing or adding links; extra links can be sourced separately. The 26 mm case uses a 13 mm bracelet end‑link width—please have adjustments done by a qualified watchmaker.

Q: How do I set the time and date safely?
A: Unscrew the crown to release it. Position 1 winds the watch; position 2 sets the date; position 3 sets the time. Avoid changing the date roughly between 8 pm and 4 am to protect the mechanism. After setting, gently screw the crown back down to maintain water resistance.

Q: What is the difference between ref. 179160 and the newer 279160?
A: Ref. 179160 is the earlier 26 mm steel model with calibre 2235. Ref. 279160 is the current 28 mm steel model with updated proportions and calibre 2236. Both feature a smooth bezel and date with Cyclops, but the 28 mm version is slightly larger and uses a newer movement.

Q: How often should a Rolex like this be serviced?
A: Rolex advises servicing approximately every 10 years under normal conditions, though older watches or those used frequently in water may benefit from shorter intervals (around 5–7 years). Timing performance and water‑resistance tests are good indicators of when service is due.

Q: What is included with this item and how is it authenticated?
