Q: What are the key specifications of the Rolex Lady‑Datejust ref. 179174?
A: A 26 mm Oystersteel case with an 18 ct white gold fluted bezel, pink dial with diamond hour markers, scratch‑resistant sapphire crystal with Cyclops, stainless‑steel Jubilee bracelet, and an automatic movement with quickset date. When properly sealed with the crown screwed down, the Oyster case is rated to 100 metres water resistance.

Q: What does the Z‑serial number (Z272423) indicate about its production year?
A: Z‑prefix serials generally correspond to approximately 2006–2007, with some overlap between years. Only Rolex service records can confirm an exact production date.

Q: Can I swim with this watch?
A: The Lady‑Datejust’s Oyster case is designed for 100 metres water resistance when the crown is fully screwed down and seals are in good condition. As a pre‑owned vintage piece, water resistance can diminish over time, so we recommend a recent pressure‑test before any swimming and avoiding hot tubs or saunas.

Q: How do I set the time and date on this model?
A: Unscrew the crown. Position 1 winds the watch manually. Position 2 quick‑sets the date. Position 3 sets the time with stop‑seconds for precise setting. Always screw the crown back down firmly after adjustments, and avoid changing the date during the date‑change phase (late evening to early morning).

Q: Which movement does ref. 179174 use, and is it chronometer‑certified?
A: It is powered by the Rolex calibre 2235, a self‑winding movement with quickset date and stop‑seconds. It is COSC‑certified as a Swiss chronometer for high precision.

Q: What metals are used, and what does White Rolesor mean here?
A: This reference combines Oystersteel with an 18 ct white gold fluted bezel. Rolex refers to this steel‑and‑gold combination (with the fluted bezel in gold) as White Rolesor.

Q: Will the bracelet fit my wrist, and can it be resized?
A: This watch is currently sized to fit a 16.5 cm wrist or smaller. The Jubilee bracelet can be adjusted by adding or removing links; a professional jeweller or watchmaker can size it to your preference. Contact us if you need extra links sourced.

Q: Are the diamond hour markers factory set?
A: This example features a diamond‑set dial as described. Every item at A Retro Tale is authenticated through multi‑point checks of the dial, stones, engravings and components to ensure they meet Rolex specifications. A detailed condition report is available on request.

Q: Is the 26 mm Lady‑Datejust still produced, and how does it compare to the 28 mm?
A: Rolex phased out the 26 mm Lady‑Datejust around 2015 in favour of the current 28 mm size. The discontinued 26 mm remains popular on the pre‑owned market for its petite, classic proportions.

Q: How often should I service this watch?
A: Plan on servicing approximately every 10 years as a guideline; depending on age and usage, some pieces benefit from 5–7 year intervals. Have the water resistance checked periodically, especially before water exposure.
