Q: Are these Saint Laurent Hoop Clip‑on Earrings authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What are they made from? Are they solid gold?
A: These are vintage Saint Laurent fashion earrings in a gold‑tone finish, typically plated over a base metal such as brass. They are not solid gold unless explicitly stated. The woven texture adds dimension without the weight of fine metal. If you’d like us to confirm any composition stamps on this pair, just ask and we’ll share close‑ups.

Q: What are the measurements and how will they look when worn?
A: Approx. Height 2.0 cm x Width 0.8 cm x Depth 1.5 cm. As petite hoops, they give a refined, vintage look with subtle texture from the woven design. If you’d like the exact gram weight or ear‑on photos for scale, message us and we’ll provide them.

Q: How do they fasten and are clip‑ons comfortable?
A: They use a clip‑on fastening. Comfort varies by ear and by clip tension. Tips: add soft silicone comfort pads, ensure the clips aren’t overly tight, and take short breaks during long wear. A jeweller can usually fine‑tune clip tension for a better fit.

Q: Are they suitable for sensitive ears? Are they nickel‑free?
A: Vintage fashion jewellery may contain nickel. If you’re sensitive, consider barrier pads on the clip contact points, keep the area dry, and limit wear time. Discontinue use if irritation occurs and contact us for guidance.

Q: Can I wear them in water or while applying perfume and hair products?
A: We recommend keeping gold‑tone plated jewellery dry and away from perfume, lotions, hairspray and hand sanitiser. Moisture and chemicals can accelerate wear to plating. Remove before showering, swimming, exercising or sleeping.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect on Saint Laurent vintage earrings?
A: Many vintage pieces carry an YSL signature plaque or stamp, sometimes with “Made in France.” Later lines may read “Saint Laurent Paris.” Placement varies (clip backs or reverse). Please check our close‑up photos for any stamps on this pair.

Q: How should I clean and care for the gold‑tone finish?
A: After wear, gently wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Avoid soaking, ultrasonic cleaners and chemical dips. Store individually in a pouch or box, away from humidity and direct sunlight, to minimise friction and preserve the finish.

Q: Can clip‑on earrings be converted to pierced posts?
A: Often, yes—depending on construction. A competent jeweller can sometimes add posts or convert certain clip styles. Conversion may alter originality and affect resale value; we don’t perform in‑house modifications but can recommend specialists on request.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return them?
A: These earrings are in Very Good Condition with a light trace of use. This listing includes no accessories unless shown or stated. For hygienic reasons, we only accept returns of earrings if the seal is intact; if the seal is broken, we cannot accept the return.
