Q: Are these Tiffany & Co. HardWear Ball Earrings authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What are they made from? Are they solid gold or plated?
A: They are crafted in solid 18‑carat (18kt) yellow gold from Tiffany’s HardWear collection—not gold‑plated fashion jewellery. If you’d like us to confirm any aspect of the composition, just ask and we’ll provide close‑up details.

Q: What are the measurements and how do they look when worn?
A: Our listing notes approximately 1.0 cm (height) x 1.0 cm (width) x 1.7 cm (depth). On the ear they read as refined ball studs with a subtle chain detail. If you’d like the precise gram weight or a photo on ear for scale, let us know and we’ll measure/photograph them for you.

Q: How do they fasten and are the backs secure?
A: They have a post‑back (friction/butterfly) closure typical of Tiffany studs. Always ensure the backs are fully seated before wear. If you’d like us to confirm the exact backs supplied with this pair, we’ll be happy to check and share additional photos.

Q: Are they comfortable and suitable for everyday wear?
A: 18kt ball studs are generally comfortable for daily use. For added support (e.g., if piercings are soft or stretched), consider silicone or disc stabilisers behind the earlobe. Contact us if you’d like recommendations.

Q: Can I wear them in the shower, swimming or to sleep?
A: Tiffany advises removing jewellery before showering, swimming, exercising and applying cosmetics or lotions. We also suggest removing earrings before sleeping to avoid bending posts or undue stress on backs and earlobes.

Q: Are they nickel‑free and suitable for sensitive ears?
A: 18kt yellow gold alloys are typically considered friendly for sensitive ears and generally contain little to no nickel; however, sensitivities vary. If you have a known allergy, monitor comfort and discontinue wear if irritation occurs—we’re happy to advise further.

Q: What hallmarks should I expect on Tiffany 18kt gold earrings?
A: Expect the TIFFANY & CO. maker’s mark and a fineness stamp such as “750” or “Au750” for 18‑carat gold; some pieces also bear a country of origin stamp (this pair is noted as United States). Placement varies by model—our close‑up photos show any stamps present.

Q: How should I care for 18kt yellow gold and the polished finish?
A: After wear, wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Keep them dry and away from perfume, hairspray, hand sanitiser and cleaning chemicals. For a deeper clean, use a non‑abrasive gold jewellery cleaner or mild soap and lukewarm water, then rinse, blot dry and buff with a polishing cloth. Professional cleaning at Tiffany once a year is recommended for regularly worn pieces.

Q: Can Tiffany replace a single lost earring or supply replacement backs?
A: Tiffany boutiques may be able to supply replacement earring backs and can sometimes replace a single lost earring, subject to availability and their policies. Contact your local Tiffany store or Client Care for current options and quotations.

Q: What condition should I expect and what is included?
A: These earrings are in Very Good Condition with light signs of careful wear possible unless noted otherwise. This listing includes no accessories unless specifically shown or stated. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
