Q: What is the Return to Tiffany inscription and what does it signify?
A: The inscription references Tiffany’s heritage key tags from the 1960s and is now a signature design detail. On modern jewellery it is decorative and does not function as a registration or recovery service for lost items.

Q: What are the materials and key details of this necklace?
A: It is crafted in sterling silver (.925) with a long bead chain and a heart-shaped Return to Tiffany pendant, finished with a lobster clasp. The chain is approximately 85 cm, designed to sit long on the chest. As a vintage piece in very good condition, light surface scratches may be present consistent with normal wear—please review the photos and product information.

Q: Can I wear it in the shower or while swimming?
A: Tiffany advises removing jewellery before showering, swimming, using hot tubs or hot springs, exercising, and before applying lotions, perfumes, or hair products, as these can accelerate tarnish and dullness.

Q: How should I clean and care for the sterling silver?
A: Wipe with a soft, non-abrasive cloth after wear and store it dry, ideally in an anti-tarnish pouch or box. Avoid chlorine and bleach. For deeper refresh, Tiffany offers professional cleaning and polishing services for sterling silver (fees may apply). Regular wear can also help minimise tarnish.

Q: Can the chain length be adjusted?
A: Many jewellers can shorten bead chains, and chain extenders can add length. Tiffany also offers repairs and fit alterations on many designs; availability and fees depend on the specific item and assessment in store.

Q: Is engraving available for the heart tag?
A: Tiffany provides engraving services on many heart tag designs. If you would like personalised engraving, a Tiffany boutique can advise on options, suitability for this exact piece and pricing.

Q: How can I be confident about authenticity?
A: A Retro Tale rigorously authenticates every item before listing. Authentic Tiffany pieces typically feature precise metal and maker hallmarks (such as “Tiffany & Co.” and “925”) and high-quality finishing. Note that Tiffany & Co. does not run an external authentication programme for third-party purchases.

Q: Will sterling silver tarnish, and how can I reduce it?
A: Sterling silver naturally tarnishes over time, especially with exposure to moisture, salt air and sulphur compounds. Wearing the necklace regularly, storing it in a dry anti-tarnish environment and cleaning it periodically will help maintain its shine.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed in the product information on this page. If a Tiffany box, pouch or other items are not mentioned there, they are not included—please contact us if you would like us to confirm what is included.
