Q: What typically fits in the Chanel CC Hobo Bag shown here?
A: With approximate dimensions of 28 × 23 × 10 cm, it comfortably carries a long wallet, smartphone, keys, sunglasses in a case, a small cosmetic pouch, and a slim 500 ml bottle. A small tablet (such as an iPad mini) also fits. Capacity depends on how you organise items and whether you prefer the bag to keep a softer hobo drape.

Q: Can this CC Hobo be worn crossbody?
A: The strap drop is approximately 23 cm, which is designed for shoulder carry. It sits neatly under the arm and is not intended to be worn crossbody without adding an aftermarket extender (not included).

Q: What type of leather is this, and how durable is it for daily use?
A: This piece is crafted from black grained leather often referred to as Chanel’s caviar-grain calfskin. Caviar is prized for its pebbled texture and excellent resistance to scratches and day-to-day wear, making it a strong choice for regular use when cared for properly.

Q: How should I care for the grained (caviar) leather?
A: Wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth after use, keep away from oils/hand sanitisers, and avoid prolonged sunlight or humidity. For deeper cleans, use a pH‑balanced leather cleaner sparingly on a test area first. Store stuffed to shape in a breathable dust bag; wrap the chain to prevent imprints. For stains, colour transfer or scuffs, consult a professional leather spa rather than using household products.

Q: The hardware is gold- and silver-toned. Will it tarnish or lose colour?
A: Chanel hardware is plated metal. Surface micro-scratches and dulling can occur with wear, especially on high-contact areas. Avoid metal polishes (they can strip plating). Instead, buff gently with a clean, dry cloth and store the bag so the chain doesn’t rub against the leather or hardware.

Q: What does the serial number 8905409 indicate?
A: This is a 7‑digit, 8‑series code that dates the bag to approximately 2003–2004. Date codes indicate a production window rather than an exact month and should be considered alongside other authenticity markers.

Q: What pockets and closure does this model have?
A: It features a top zip closure for secure access, an exterior slip pocket for quick‑grab items, and a fabric interior lined with CC logo motif with practical compartments for small essentials.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under product information. For this piece, a serial number tag is included. If an item like a dust bag, box, or authenticity card isn’t listed there, it is not included.

Q: Is this bag authenticated?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale undergoes rigorous in‑house checks of materials, stitching, stamps, hardware and serial details before being listed. We stand behind the authenticity of all items and can provide further product information on request.

Q: Any tips to minimise wear on corners and hardware?
A: Rotate carry sides to avoid rubbing the same corner, don’t overfill, and place the bag on clean surfaces. If corner scuffs or hardware dullness develop, a specialist can often tidy edges, re‑dye micro‑scuffs, and perform gentle hardware refreshes without aggressive polishing.
