ChanelCC Single Flap Bag

Q: What fits inside this Chanel CC Single Flap Bag?
A: With approximate measurements of 23 x 18 x 8 cm, this bag is best suited to daily essentials such as a phone, cardholder or small wallet, keys, lipstick, and a few compact personal items. It is a practical shoulder bag size, but not intended for bulkier items. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for the most accurate dimensions.

Q: Is this a single flap or double flap Chanel bag?
A: This is a Single Flap model. In practical terms, that means it has one main flap rather than the layered interior construction of a Double Flap. Many collectors appreciate Single Flap bags for being lighter and a little easier to access in everyday use.

Q: Is a Chanel Single Flap bag considered rare?
A: Single Flap Chanel bags are sought after because they are no longer the standard construction for core Classic Flap sizes. Vintage examples remain especially appealing to collectors, particularly when they retain desirable original details and era-specific features.

Q: What does the serial number range 2****** mean?
A: The serial number range listed for this bag dates it to the early 1990s, specifically 1991 to 1994 according to the product information. For vintage Chanel, the serial number is an important dating detail, but it should always be considered alongside overall craftsmanship, hardware, stitching, and interior details when assessing authenticity.

Q: Does this bag come with any original product information?
A: Yes. According to the product information for this item, it comes with a serial number tag. If any additional inclusions are not listed in the product information, they should not be assumed to be included.

Q: How should I expect the condition to present in person?
A: This bag is listed in Very Good condition. The exterior shows rubbing on the CC logo and scratches in the leather material, the interior has light traces of use, and the hardware remains shiny with light scratches. As a vintage Chanel piece from the early 1990s, gentle signs of age and wear are to be expected and form part of its character.

Q: Is light scratching on the hardware normal for a vintage Chanel bag?
A: Yes. Light scratches on Chanel hardware are a very common point of wear, particularly on vintage bags that have been carried and stored over time. In this case, the hardware is described as shiny with light scratches, which is consistent with careful prior use rather than heavy wear.

Q: How should I care for and store this bag?
A: To help preserve its shape and finish, avoid overfilling the bag, keep it away from prolonged sunlight, humidity, and colour transfer, and store it upright when not in use. It is also wise to protect the chain while stored and to handle the leather gently with a soft cloth only. For vintage bags, careful storage makes a noticeable difference over time.

Q: Is the strap suitable for shoulder wear?
A: Yes. The listed strap measurement is 45 cm, which is typically suitable for shoulder carry. The exact fit will vary slightly depending on frame and styling preference, but this length generally offers a comfortable classic shoulder-bag drop rather than a long crossbody wear.

Q: How do you authenticate a vintage Chanel bag like this?
A: Authentication should never rely on one detail alone. Vintage Chanel bags are typically assessed through a combination of construction quality, stitching, logo placement, hardware, interior lining, serial details, and overall consistency with the era. At A Retro Tale, all items are carefully vetted for authenticity before sale.
