It comfortably fits an A4 notebook or documents, a large tablet (up to around 12.9 in), a long wallet, phone, sunglasses, and daily essentials. A very slim 13 in laptop may slide in but we do not recommend regular use with a laptop to avoid strain on the flap and chain—please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact sizing.
Q: Can I wear it crossbody? A: Yes. The interlaced chain-and-leather strap can be worn doubled on the shoulder (approx. 32 cm drop) or as a single strap for a longer drop of about 60 cm. On most heights, the Maxi sits relatively high when worn crossbody; please check the Measurements to see if the drop suits your frame.
Q: Is this a single or double flap, and what is the difference? A: This is a single flap, meaning there is one main flap and an open interior beneath it. Single flaps tend to feel a little lighter and roomier, while double flaps add an extra interior flap for structure and security. Chanel no longer produces the Classic Maxi in a single‑flap construction; single‑flap versions are available only on the pre‑owned market.
Q: What material is it and how should I care for it? A: It is black quilted lambskin leather with gold‑tone hardware and a burgundy leather lining. For lambskin, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth, avoid products that could alter the finish, keep away from prolonged light, heat and humidity, and store upright in a breathable pouch with the chain wrapped to prevent imprints. Light surface marks on lambskin can sometimes be reduced by very gently rubbing in small circles with a clean, dry cloth.
Q: Is the chain adjustable? A: The chain is not adjustable in fixed steps, but it can be worn in two ways: doubled on the shoulder or extended as a single strap. We do not recommend permanent alterations or hardware add‑ons that could mark the leather or affect long‑term value.

In order to request a return, please email [email protected] with your order number and state ”return request” in your email. From there, our Customer Support will confirm that your return request has been approved and further instructions will be provided by email.
Please note that the return shipping fee is covered by the returnee and all return shippings to A Retro Tale must be traceable. Thus, please retain your receipt of shipping and tracking number until your return has been completed and you have received your refund.
