Dimensions & Specifications

Necklace perimeter

70 cm

Q: What is the length of this necklace?
A: The necklace has a perimeter of 70 cm. This gives it a longer profile than many standard fine jewellery necklaces, so it can sit lower on the neckline and works well worn alone or layered with shorter pieces.

Q: Will a 70 cm necklace suit layering?
A: Yes, a 70 cm length is excellent for layering. It typically sits below collarbone-length necklaces, which helps create a balanced layered look without the chains crowding one another. As fit can vary by wearer, please refer to the Measurements on this page for the stated length.

Please note that the majority of our items are vintage and therefore have tales to tell unless stated otherwise. Therefore, please look at pictures, descriptions and measurements provided as they give you the best idea of the story this item has to tell.

* Please note that when you buy a vintage product, the dimensions may vary slightly from a new one depending on previous care and storage.

Q: What makes the FRED Force 10 collection so distinctive?
A: The Force 10 line is known for its signature nautical-inspired design, originally inspired by the meeting of a sailing cable and a gold buckle. In necklace form, it offers the same recognisable, sporty-yet-refined look in a more delicate everyday format.

Q: What material is this necklace made from?
A: This piece is crafted in 18kt white gold. The white gold finish gives it a bright, modern look that pairs easily with both casual and more polished styling.

Q: What condition is this necklace in?
A: This item is listed in Very Good Condition. It shows light traces of use, and the hardware remains shiny with light scratches consistent with careful previous wear.

Q: Does this item come with any extras?
A: No, this necklace is listed with no accessories. Please rely on the product information for what is included with this specific item.

Q: How should I care for an 18kt white gold necklace like this?
A: To help maintain its finish, store it separately from other jewellery, avoid contact with perfume, hairspray, lotions and household chemicals, and wipe it gently with a soft cloth after wear. For deeper cleaning or polishing, professional jewellery care is recommended.

Q: Is white gold prone to scratches or wear over time?
A: Like most precious metals, white gold can develop light surface marks through normal use, especially on areas that rub against skin or clothing. Minor scratches are normal and can often be improved with professional polishing when appropriate.

Q: Is the FRED Force 10 necklace a good everyday piece?
A: Yes, many buyers choose the Force 10 design for everyday wear because it combines a clean, versatile shape with a recognisable luxury identity. Its white gold tone also makes it easy to style with other jewellery and a wide range of wardrobes.

Q: How do you authenticate pre-owned FRED jewellery?
A: At A Retro Tale, every item is carefully checked by specialists before sale. Authentication is based on a combination of construction, material quality, engravings, design details and overall consistency with the brand’s standards.
