HermèsBuffalo Horn Necklace

Q: What material is this Hermès necklace made from?
A: This Hermès necklace is made from buffalo horn in a brown tone. Buffalo horn is a natural material, so it is valued for its organic character and subtle variation.

Q: How long is the necklace and where will it sit?
A: The necklace has an approximate perimeter of 58 cm. On most people, that means it will sit lower than a close collar necklace, but the exact position will depend on your proportions and styling preference.

Q: Is the necklace adjustable?
A: The product information lists a 58 cm necklace perimeter, but no extender or alternate length is mentioned. Unless otherwise stated in the product information, it is best to treat it as a fixed-length necklace.

Q: What condition is this vintage necklace in?
A: It is listed in Very Good condition with light traces of use. The hardware is described as shiny with light scratches, which is consistent with careful previous wear.

Q: What is included with the necklace?
A: This item comes with a box and dust bag, as stated in the product information. If any additional extras are not listed there, they should not be assumed to be included.

Q: How should I care for buffalo horn jewellery?
A: Wipe it gently with a soft, dry cloth after wear and store it separately in its box or dust bag. Avoid prolonged exposure to water, perfume, lotions, heat, direct sunlight and hard knocks, as horn is a natural material that can dry out, dull or crack if mishandled.

Q: Can I wear this necklace every day?
A: It can be enjoyed regularly if worn with care, but it is best removed before showering, swimming, exercising or applying fragrance and beauty products. Gentle handling will help preserve both the horn and the hardware.

Q: Will the colour and pattern be completely uniform?
A: Not always. Buffalo horn is a natural material, so slight tonal variation and organic patterning are part of its appeal. For a pre-owned piece like this, the photos and product information represent the individual item you will receive.

Q: How do you verify authenticity?
A: Every item sold by A Retro Tale is authenticated by in-house experts. For additional context, Hermès states that it cannot verify items bought outside official Hermès points of sale, which is why specialist authentication is so important in the vintage market.
