Louis VuittonPalm Springs PM Backpack

Q: What typically fits inside the Louis Vuitton Palm Springs PM Backpack?
A: With approximate measurements of 29 × 20 × 10 cm, it comfortably holds daily essentials: a large smartphone, compact or slim continental wallet, keys, slim sunglasses in a soft case, wireless earbuds, a small cosmetics pouch and a small notebook. A slim 500 ml water bottle can fit horizontally; upright carry may press against the curved zip depending on the bottle and how the bag is packed. Please compare your items to the Measurements shown or ask us for a tailored fit check for this exact piece.

Q: Will it fit a tablet or A4 documents?
A: An iPad mini‑sized device generally fits. Standard 10–11 inch tablets may fit but can be snug due to the curved zip opening and compact depth. A4 documents (29.7 × 21 cm) and most laptops do not fit flat in the PM size.

Q: Are the shoulder straps comfortable and adjustable?
A: Yes. The Palm Springs features padded, foam‑backed, adjustable shoulder straps designed for everyday comfort. Many wear it as a backpack or slung over one shoulder; there is also a top handle (approx. 5 cm drop) for quick grab‑and‑go.

Q: How secure is the closure and what pockets does it have?
A: The PM has a zip‑top main compartment offering good everyday security, plus an external zipped front pocket for quick‑access items and an internal slip pocket for valuables. We recommend keeping the bag upright in crowded settings and using the internal pocket for smaller essentials.

Q: What materials is this model made from? Is the canvas water‑resistant?
A: It is crafted in Monogram coated canvas with black leather trim, black textile lining and gold‑tone hardware. Coated canvas offers good day‑to‑day water resistance, but it isn’t waterproof—avoid heavy rain and dry the surface gently if it becomes damp.

Q: Is the Palm Springs PM still available from Louis Vuitton?
A: Boutique availability varies by season and region and can change without notice. The PM size is most reliably found on the pre‑loved market, where specific editions and years are easier to source.

Q: Where is the date code and what does “FL4185” mean?
A: Older Palm Springs bags typically have a date code stamped on a small leather tab inside. “FL” indicates a French workshop; under Louis Vuitton’s coding used until around 2021, “4185” decodes to the 48th week of 2015. Note that LV transitioned to embedded microchips around 2021, so newer bags may not have a visible date code.

Q: How should I care for the coated canvas, leather trim and hardware?
A: Wipe the canvas with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry immediately. Keep leather away from moisture and potential colour transfer (e.g., dark denim). Store the bag upright, lightly stuffed, in a breathable dust bag, and avoid overloading to maintain its shape. Hardware can develop fine hairline scratches with normal use—minimise friction during storage by padding contact points.

Q: Is the Palm Springs PM unisex?
A: Yes. Its clean backpack silhouette and neutral Monogram canvas make it a versatile, gender‑inclusive style that works across wardrobes and body types.

Q: What accessories are included and how is authenticity guaranteed?
A: For this specific listing we note “no accessories” under Accessories; if an item isn’t listed there (e.g., box or dust bag), it isn’t included. Every piece at A Retro Tale is rigorously authenticated by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, stitching, hardware, brand stamps and date code/microchip—and we stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell.
