Q: What are the size and capacity of the Small Boy Bag?
A: This Small Boy measures approximately 20 × 12 × 6 cm. It comfortably fits daily essentials such as a smartphone, compact wallet or cardholder, keys and a few small cosmetics. Larger items like long continental wallets or tablets will not fit. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact figures.

Q: Can I wear it crossbody as well as on the shoulder?
A: Yes. The chain-and-leather strap can be worn single for crossbody or doubled for a shorter shoulder carry. There are no buckle holes for length adjustment; the drop on this piece is about 55 cm, so where it sits will depend on your height and frame.

Q: How delicate is velvet and is it suitable for regular use?
A: Velvet is more delicate than leather and will show wear more readily on corners and areas that rub against clothing. It is best suited to moderate use. Avoid rain and humidity, minimise friction with rough fabrics, and lift the nap occasionally with a very soft, dry brush to keep it looking fresh.

Q: How should I care for and store a velvet Chanel bag?
A: Keep it away from water, oils and direct heat; avoid overfilling; and limit prolonged contact between light and dark colours. After wear, gently brush the surface in one direction to refresh the pile. Store it loosely stuffed in a breathable dust bag with the chain tucked and wrapped to prevent imprints on the velvet.

Q: Is colour transfer from denim a concern with this material?
A: Yes. Dark indigo denim and other heavily dyed garments can transfer colour onto lighter or textured materials, including velvet. To minimise the risk, avoid constant rubbing against jeans, especially when the denim is new or damp, and rotate where the bag rests against clothing.

Q: What is the strap drop and is it adjustable on this specific piece?
A: The strap drop on this bag is approximately 55 cm. It is designed to be worn either crossbody (single) or on the shoulder (doubled). The length is fixed, so it cannot be extended beyond this without accessories or aftermarket adaptations.

Q: What is the closure and interior layout like?
A: The bag features the Boy signature CC push-lock under the front flap. Inside, there is a beige fabric lining with one internal slip pocket for small essentials.

Q: What production period does serial number 18425552 indicate?
A: Chanel serial numbers beginning with 18 typically correspond to around 2014 (some guides note a 2013–2014 window). Serial numbers indicate the production period only and are not, by themselves, proof of authenticity. Every item at A Retro Tale is thoroughly authenticated by our experts.

Q: Is the Boy Bag a classic design and is velvet a seasonal variation?
A: The Boy Bag was introduced in 2011 and quickly became a modern Chanel icon. While leather versions are core to the line, materials like velvet are generally offered as seasonal variations in select collections.

Q: What accessories are included with this item?
A: This piece comes with its serial number tag. If an accessory such as an authenticity card, dust bag or box is not listed under Accessories, it is not included.
