Q: What typically fits inside the Bottega Veneta Patent Intrecciato Cabat GM Tote Bag?
A: With approximate measurements of 43 × 30 × 23 cm, this GM size offers a roomy everyday interior. It can typically hold a wallet, phone, sunglasses, water bottle, notebook, cosmetic pouch and other daily essentials with ease. Depending on the shape of your items, it may also suit a slim tablet or compact laptop, but we recommend checking the measurements on this page against your own items for the best fit.
Q: Can this Cabat GM be carried on the shoulder?
A: Yes. The tote has a handle drop of approximately 17 cm, which generally allows for shoulder carry for many people, especially with lighter layers. The fit can vary depending on your frame and what you are wearing.
Q: Does this bag come with a pouch?
A: Yes, this item includes a pouch. Everything included with the bag is shown in the product information.
Q: Is the Cabat known for an open and unstructured interior?
A: Yes. The Cabat is known for its spacious tote format and pared-back construction, which collectors often appreciate for its light feel and artisanal look. As with many open tote styles, using small organisers or the included pouch can help keep essentials easy to find.
Q: What makes the Intrecciato Cabat special?
A: The Cabat is one of Bottega Veneta’s most recognisable tote designs, celebrated for its signature Intrecciato woven construction and understated luxury. It is especially appreciated by collectors who prefer craftsmanship and design detail over prominent logos.
Q: How should I care for patent leather on this bag?
A: Patent leather should be handled gently and kept away from prolonged heat, direct sunlight, humidity, rough surfaces and dark-coloured fabrics that may transfer colour. Wipe it carefully with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth only, and avoid harsh cleaners, alcohol-based products and over-conditioning. Store it in a cool, dry place with light stuffing to help maintain its shape.
Q: The condition notes mention a slightly sticky feel. What does that mean?
A: For this specific item, the exterior condition is noted as good, with corner wear and scuffs, visible white marks, and a slightly sticky feel. On patent finishes, tackiness can develop over time due to age, storage conditions or exposure to heat and humidity. Many buyers still enjoy these pieces as vintage items, but it is worth reviewing the condition details and photos carefully before purchase.
Q: What is the condition of this particular bag?
A: This bag is rated in good condition. The exterior shows corner wear, scuffs, visible white marks and a slightly sticky feel. The interior is in good condition with discolouration and marks on the base, and the pouch is scuffed and stained. Please review the product images and condition notes for the most accurate impression.
Q: Does the absence of a serial number mean the bag is not authentic?
A: Not necessarily. Some Bottega Veneta bags, especially older examples, may not have a serial number visible in the way shoppers expect, and authenticity is not judged on one detail alone. Construction, weave quality, materials, stamps, labels and overall craftsmanship are all important factors.
Q: How do you authenticate Bottega Veneta bags like this one?
A: At A Retro Tale, authenticity is assessed through a multi-point review of the bag’s craftsmanship and design details, including the Intrecciato weave, leather quality, finishing, stamps, labels and overall consistency with the model. If you would like extra reassurance about this specific piece, customer care can provide further guidance.
