Q: What fits inside the Chanel Classic Jumbo Single Flap?
A: Typically: a large smartphone, continental (long) wallet, keys, sunglasses in a slim case, a small cosmetics pouch, and extras like hand sanitiser or a compact power bank. Compared with the Double Flap, the Single Flap is roomier and easier to load. Avoid overfilling to preserve the flap shape. For exact capacity, please compare your items with the Measurements on this page or ask us for a tailored fit check for this piece.

Q: Will it fit a tablet or laptop?
A: Small tablets and e‑readers usually fit comfortably. Slim 10–11 inch tablets may fit depending on the case and bezel size but can be snug at the opening; 12‑inch tablets and laptops generally do not fit. Compare your device’s dimensions with the Measurements listed or contact us and we’ll test the fit against this specific bag.

Q: Is the chain strap adjustable, and can I wear it crossbody?
A: The chain isn’t adjustable, but it can be worn doubled on the shoulder or extended as a single chain for shoulder or high crossbody wear. On most wearers the Jumbo sits at hip/waist when crossbody. We’ll list the strap drop under Measurements—if it’s missing, just ask and we’ll measure it for you.

Q: How secure is the closure and what is the interior layout?
A: The Classic Single Flap uses a CC turn‑lock on the outer flap. Inside, Jumbos typically have a spacious main compartment with a zip pocket and one or more slip pockets, plus an exterior back slip pocket for quick access. Exact pocket layout can vary slightly by era—please review our photos and description for this item.

Q: What’s the difference between the Single Flap and Double Flap?
A: The Single Flap generally offers more internal space and lighter weight, with one main flap. The Double Flap adds a second interior flap with a snap, which enhances structure and security but slightly reduces capacity. Many collectors appreciate the Single Flap Jumbo for its lighter feel and easy access.

Q: What materials and hardware are common for this model?
A: Classic Jumbos are typically crafted in lambskin or caviar (pebbled) calfskin, with gold‑tone or silver‑tone hardware. Earlier vintage examples often feature 24K gold‑plated hardware; later pieces use gold‑tone without precious plating. Linings are commonly leather. Our listing specifies the exact leather, hardware finish and origin for this bag.

Q: How should I care for lambskin vs caviar leather?
A: Keep the bag away from moisture and oils, and be mindful of colour transfer from dark clothing. Lambskin is soft and can show scratches/pressure marks more readily; caviar is more textured and generally more scratch‑resistant. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth and use a suitable neutral conditioner sparingly (test first on a discreet area). Store the bag stuffed and upright in a breathable dust bag, and place a soft felt between chain and leather to avoid imprints.

Q: Where are the brand markings and codes located, and how is dating handled?
A: Authentic Chanel bags have “CHANEL” and “Made in France/Italy” inside. Older models include a hologram serial sticker (often inside along a seam or pocket) and may have an authenticity card. From around 2021, Chanel transitioned to an embedded microchip instead of the sticker/card. Placement and format vary by era—we’re happy to share close‑ups and help date this specific piece on request.

Q: Is the Jumbo Single Flap still produced?
A: The Jumbo Single Flap is a discontinued configuration. Availability today is mainly through the pre‑loved market, making specialists like A Retro Tale ideal for sourcing this sought‑after model.

Q: Can Chanel repair or service this bag?
A: Chanel offers repair services subject to assessment and parts availability (e.g., hardware, chain, some leather components). Lead times and costs vary by region. Skilled independent ateliers can also handle cleaning and restoration. We can advise on typical options and help you prepare for a boutique assessment.

Q: What accessories are included and how do you authenticate?
A: Any included items (e.g., dust bag, box, authenticity card for older pieces) are listed under “Accessories.” If an item isn’t mentioned there, it isn’t included—feel free to ask us to confirm. Every item at A Retro Tale undergoes rigorous, multi‑point authentication of materials, construction, stamps, hardware and serial sticker/microchip, and we stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell.
