Q: What typically fits inside this Chanel Patent Timeless Wallet On Chain Bag?
A: With measurements of approximately 19 x 13 x 4 cm, it is best suited to daily essentials such as a phone, cards, folded notes, keys and lipstick. Because it is a wallet-on-chain design with internal pockets, it works best when packed lightly rather than with bulky items.

Q: Will my phone fit inside?
A: Most standard smartphones should fit, but very large phones or bulky cases may make the interior feel tight. As a rule of thumb, compare your phone to the listed width of 19 cm and depth of 4 cm for the best guide.

Q: Can this bag be worn crossbody?
A: The listed strap drop is approximately 65 cm. For many people this works well on the shoulder, and on some frames it can also be worn crossbody. The exact fit will depend on your height and preferred drop.

Q: Is a Chanel WOC more of an evening bag or an everyday bag?
A: It can do both. The Wallet On Chain is popular because it gives you the polish of a classic Chanel bag in a compact format, making it ideal for dinners, events, city outings and everyday moments when you only need the essentials.

Q: How should I care for the patent leather?
A: Patent leather has a glossy finish and should be handled with care. Wipe it gently with a soft cloth, avoid overfilling the bag, and keep it away from prolonged heat, strong sunlight and humidity. It is also best to avoid long contact with dark or colour-saturated materials that may transfer onto the surface.

Q: Does patent leather show marks easily?
A: Yes, patent leather can show fingerprints, surface marks and light scratches more readily than some grained leathers. This is normal for the material’s glossy finish, and gentle handling plus careful storage will help keep it looking its best.

Q: What is the condition of this bag?
A: This piece is in good vintage condition. The exterior shows light traces of use with some marks and scratches, the interior has light wear, and the hardware remains shiny with light scratches. Please review the product images carefully for the most accurate impression of its current condition.

Q: What product information is included with this bag?
A: This item includes the serial number and authenticity card. Everything included with the bag is listed in the product information on this page; if something is not listed there, it is not included.

Q: When was this bag likely made?
A: Based on the 4-series serial number 4557089, this bag is generally associated with the mid-1990s, around 1996 to 1997. As with many vintage Chanel pieces, the serial number gives an approximate production window rather than an exact date.

Q: How is this bag authenticated?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is carefully vetted for authenticity by specialists who assess details such as materials, construction, hardware, stamps and serial information. The included authenticity card and serial number also support the item’s product information.
