Q: What can this bag hold day to day?
A: With approximate dimensions of 24 × 17 × 5 cm, it comfortably carries a smartphone, compact wallet or cardholder, keys, lipstick and small essentials. We recommend avoiding bulky items and not overfilling to preserve the bag’s structure and the suede finish.

Q: Can it be worn crossbody?
A: The strap drop is about 18 cm, which is best suited to shoulder carry or hand/arm carry. It is generally too short to wear crossbody for most heights.

Q: What is the Mademoiselle turn‑lock closure?
A: The Mademoiselle lock is a rectangular, logo‑free twist‑lock that predates the interlocking CC turn‑lock. It is a hallmark seen on Chanel’s 2.55 lineage and some vintage flaps, giving a cleaner, more discreet look.

Q: How should I care for the suede exterior?
A: Keep suede away from water and humidity, avoid rubbing against rough or dark‑dyed fabrics, and store the bag stuffed and in a breathable dust bag. Refresh the nap lightly with a suede brush. If you choose to use a suede protector, test on a hidden area first; for stains, consult a professional suede specialist rather than using water or general cleaners.

Q: Is colour transfer a risk with suede?
A: Yes. Suede, particularly in lighter shades, can absorb dye from darker garments such as denim. Minimise prolonged contact with dark fabrics and be mindful of where the bag rests when worn.

Q: What does the serial number 6043012 indicate?
A: This seven‑digit serial beginning with a 6 typically indicates production in the early 2000s (circa 2000–2002). Serial numbers support dating but should be considered alongside other authenticity markers.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: As listed in the product information, this bag comes with its authenticity card and the matching serial number tag. Everything included is stated on this page.

Q: How do you authenticate this piece?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale undergoes multi‑point checks by our in‑house experts, including materials, stitching, hardware, stamps and serial number evaluation. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can provide further details on request.

Q: Any storage tips for maintaining its shape and finish?
A: Store in a cool, dry place in a breathable dust bag, lightly padded with acid‑free tissue to maintain structure. Keep the chain tucked inside to prevent imprints on the suede, and avoid direct sunlight or heat sources to reduce fading.
