RolexLady-Datejust 26mm 1991 Watch

Q: Is 26 mm too small by modern standards?
A: The 26 mm Lady-Datejust is the classic vintage ladies’ size and wears with a neat, elegant profile. It will feel more compact than newer 28 mm or 31 mm Datejust models, so it suits buyers who prefer a refined, jewellery-like fit rather than an oversized watch look.

Q: Is this watch automatic or battery powered?
A: Rolex Lady-Datejust reference 69174 models are generally powered by a self-winding mechanical movement rather than a battery. This means the watch runs from wrist motion and can also be started with manual winding if it has stopped.

Q: Does this watch have a quick-set date?
A: Yes, the 69174 reference is commonly fitted with a quick-set date function, which allows the date to be adjusted separately from the time. As with any vintage mechanical watch, the crown should always be used gently and never forced.

Q: Is this watch waterproof?
A: Rolex designed Datejust Oyster cases for water resistance when the crown is fully screwed down. However, because this is a vintage 1991 watch, practical water resistance depends on the present condition of the seals and whether it has been recently pressure tested, so it is best to treat water exposure cautiously.

Q: What condition is this watch in?
A: This example is listed in very good condition, with minimal trace of use externally and light scratches to the hardware. As expected for a vintage watch, minor signs of age may still be visible on close inspection.

Q: What is included with this watch?
A: This watch comes with the box, guarantee certificate, booklet and two extra link pieces. Everything included with this item is listed in the product information.

Q: What wrist size will it fit?
A: The bracelet is currently listed at approximately 15 cm in perimeter, and two extra links are included. This gives some room for adjustment, but final fit will depend on how many links are installed and how closely you like the bracelet to sit.

Q: How should I care for the case and Jubilee bracelet?
A: Rolex advises occasional cleaning with soapy water and a soft brush, provided the crown is fully screwed down first. On a vintage Jubilee bracelet, regular gentle cleaning is especially helpful because dirt and grit can increase wear over time.

Q: How do you authenticate a vintage Rolex like this?
A: Authenticity is assessed through a combination of reference details, serial markings, dial and case characteristics, movement checks, bracelet details and overall construction. At A Retro Tale, vintage luxury items are carefully vetted before sale so you can shop with confidence.
