Q: What is this necklace made of?
A: It is crafted in sterling silver (925) by Tiffany & Co. Sterling silver contains 92.5% pure silver, prized for its bright lustre and durability.

Q: What is the chain length and where will it sit when worn?
A: The chain measures approximately 46 cm (about 18 inches). This classic length typically sits around the collarbone for most people and layers well with longer chains.

Q: How does the clasp work?
A: This necklace uses a spring ring clasp. Gently pull back the small lever to open the ring, attach it to the end loop, then release to close. Avoid excessive force to preserve the spring mechanism.

Q: Does sterling silver tarnish and how should I care for it?
A: Yes, sterling silver can naturally tarnish with exposure to air, salt, sulphur and chlorine. Clean regularly with mild soap and warm water, dry thoroughly, and finish with a soft silver polishing cloth. For heavier tarnish, use a purpose‑made silver cleaner sparingly. Avoid bleach and harsh abrasives, and store the piece dry in a soft, tarnish‑resistant pouch or box when not in use.

Q: Is Tiffany sterling silver hypoallergenic?
A: Sterling silver is generally well tolerated by most wearers. It is 92.5% silver, with the remaining 7.5% typically copper rather than nickel. If you have a known metal sensitivity, we recommend testing for short periods first or consulting a jeweller.

Q: Can the chain length be adjusted?
A: Many necklaces can be shortened or lengthened by a professional jeweller, and Tiffany & Co. offers length adjustments on many styles. You can also use a removable extender with the spring ring clasp to add a little extra length without permanent alteration.

Q: Is the pendant removable from the chain?
A: Removal depends on the size of the pendant’s bail and the chain’s end loop. This piece features a fine link chain with a spring ring clasp; if you plan to swap chains, please review the photos or contact us for the bail opening measurement.

Q: What does “Good condition” mean for this piece?
A: It shows gentle, normal wear consistent with age and use: minor marks on the silver and a shiny clasp with surface scratches. The necklace is fully functional and ready to wear.

Q: What is included with the purchase?
A: Everything included is listed under the product information section on this page. If an item such as a Tiffany box, pouch or certificate is not listed there, it is not included.

Q: How do you authenticate Tiffany jewellery?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, construction, hallmarks and engravings. We stand behind the authenticity of all items and can provide additional photos or details on request.
