Q: What exactly are these earrings?
A: They are Van Cleef & Arpels Sweet Hearts earrings crafted in 18 kt rose gold, featuring heart-shaped carnelian at the stud with a dangling four-leaf clover motif and a small brilliant-cut diamond detail. They are for pierced ears with push-back closure.

Q: How large are they and how will they sit on the ear?
A: Approximate measurements are 2.5 cm in height, 2.0 cm in width and 0.2 cm in depth. The heart sits on the lobe and the clover motif drops just below, giving a delicate, mobile look without being heavy. Fit and drop can vary slightly depending on ear shape.

Q: Why can carnelian shades vary between pieces?
A: Carnelian is a natural stone selected by the Maison for lively colour. Shades can range from bright orange to deep red, and lapidaries sometimes balance tones to achieve a harmonious, uniform look. Subtle variations and natural inclusions are normal and part of each stone’s character.

Q: Can I wear these in the shower, pool or while exercising?
A: It is best to avoid water, steam, and prolonged humidity with carnelian-set jewellery. Remove the earrings before showering, swimming, sauna/steam rooms, or vigorous activity, and let perfumes, lotions and hand sanitiser dry fully before wear to preserve the stone’s mirror polish and the gold finish.

Q: How should I clean them at home?
A: After each wear, gently wipe with a soft, dry, lint‑free cloth. Avoid ultrasonic or steam cleaners and harsh chemicals. If a deeper clean is needed, we recommend professional care through the Maison’s service for optimal results.

Q: Do Van Cleef & Arpels offer polishing or repairs for this model?
A: Yes. The Maison provides cleaning, a light “shining” service and, where appropriate, polishing and repairs/stone replacement. Because polishing removes a fine layer of metal, it should be done sparingly. Fees and lead times vary by boutique and the work required.

Q: Are these suitable for sensitive ears?
A: The posts and settings are 18 kt rose gold, an alloy that typically does not contain nickel and is well tolerated by most wearers. If you have known metal sensitivities, we recommend a patch test or professional advice before extended wear.

Q: What is included with this listing?
A: Everything that comes with the item is listed in the product information section on this page. If a Van Cleef & Arpels box or certificate is not stated there, it is not included with this piece.

Q: Is this design still in current production?
A: Exact Sweet Hearts configurations can vary by season and boutique availability. As a pre‑owned piece, this example may be from a past release. For current production and after‑sales options, please consult a Van Cleef & Arpels boutique.

Q: How does A Retro Tale authenticate this item?
A: Every piece is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, hallmarks, craftsmanship and serial details. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can share additional photos or details on request.
