Q: Are these Givenchy Rhinestone Earrings authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What are they made of? Are the stones real gemstones or diamonds?
A: Givenchy costume jewellery typically features plated base metal with glass rhinestones/crystals. The stones are not diamonds, and the metal is not solid precious metal unless explicitly stated. This pair showcases blue and green rhinestones with silvertone hardware in a chandelier style.

Q: Are they for pierced ears or clip‑on, and how do they fasten?
A: This pair is for pierced ears and secures with a push‑back post, as shown in the photos. If you’d like us to confirm any detail of the fastening, just message us.

Q: What size and weight are they? Will they feel heavy?
A: Please refer to the Measurements section and images on this page for dimensions. If you need the exact drop length and approximate gram weight for comfort reference, contact us and we’ll measure them for you. Chandelier styles have elegant movement; larger comfort backs can help distribute weight for longer wear.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect on vintage Givenchy earrings?
A: Many vintage Givenchy pieces are stamped GIVENCHY and often “Made in France,” sometimes with collection or era indicators. Markings may appear on the reverse or near the post. Placement and format vary by season; our listing photos show any stamps present on this pair.

Q: How should I care for the rhinestones and silvertone plating?
A: Keep them dry and away from perfume, hairspray, lotions and hand sanitiser. After wear, gently wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth; use a dry cotton bud to lift dust around stone settings. Do not soak, use ultrasonic cleaners or chemical dips. Store individually in a pouch/box, out of direct sunlight and humidity, to preserve sparkle and colour.

Q: Are they nickel‑free and suitable for sensitive ears?
A: Vintage and fashion jewellery may contain nickel. If you have sensitivities, consider hypoallergenic barrier discs or applying a clear barrier product on contact points. Discontinue use if irritation occurs and contact us for guidance.

Q: Will the plating or stones show wear over time?
A: Plated finishes can develop light surface wear or micro‑scratches at high‑contact points. Rhinestones may dull if exposed to moisture or cosmetics. Proper care—keeping them dry, wiping after wear and storing separately—helps maintain lustre and stone security. Any notable wear is disclosed in our condition notes and photos.

Q: Can they be repaired, replated or modified?
A: A competent jeweller can replace push‑backs, re‑set/replace rhinestones and perform gentle replating. Conversion to clip‑on is generally not recommended as it alters the design and may affect originality and resale value. We don’t perform in‑house alterations but can recommend reputable specialists on request.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included and can I return them?
A: This pair is listed in Very Good vintage condition; expect minor, normal signs of wear unless stated otherwise. Only accessories specifically shown or listed are included (this item is sold without accessories). Earrings are eligible for return under our standard policy provided they are unworn, any hygiene seals (if applied) remain intact, and the item is returned in the same condition received. Please see our Returns page for full details.
